Penalty King/Queen is back for 2026!

Penalty King/Queen is coming next Tuesday 3rd March at training at 7pm! 🙌⚽️

The way it works- every child needs to get sponsored to take part (forms were handed out on Saturday so please let us know if you didn't get one/lost it and we can get another one to you)

Every child takes 5 penalties and after this, those who have scored the most will go on to play against each other in sudden death competition until there is one winner - who wins (and gets to keep!) the penalty king/queen trophy! 🏆

We'll practice some penalties thia week at training in preparation! 😃

Please can all children bring their sponsorship forms and money collected on Tuesday 3rd March as only children who are sponsored can take part please ⚽️ (if there are any issues with this please speak to us before Tuesday night)

We've picked our indoor training night so all parents can stay to watch and cheer the kids on 🙌

We're looking forward to this and should be good fun for all the children 😃⚽️

Hello Phoenix Faithful, we are back to competitive football after the summer break and this mornings keenly contested match was certainly competitive!

Firstly, well done to Calvin Mutch making his competitive debut in goals today. We also had Cameron Duguid make his bow on the coaching team. Welcome to you both.

The scoreline probably didn't reflect the balance of the game, but Phoenix changed shape and threw 'the kitchen sink' at it for the last 20mins pulling a goal back through Matthew. On another day I'm sure we would have equalized had the ball broke a bit kinder to us in the box.

As can happen with so many breaking forward we left ourselves short on cover at the back, eventually losing the crucial goal right at the death. Ross said it was definitely a foul, so no complaints about the free kick.

In the end a fairly even game came down to finishing. Bellshill made the most of their shots on goal.

I'm sure the kids will be pleased to hear we will be focusing on shooting at training this week!

Unlucky team, 10/10 for attitude, effort and most of all being great sportsmen/women.

Big thank you to everyone who came along to support the team too, it makes such a difference.

We go again next weekend with another home tie!

And finally, a huge shout out and thank you to the other member of our coaching team - hard to get a photo of her because she's the one taking all the photos, organising us and giving up what little spare time she has. It's not easy juggling being a working mum of two young lads and still having time to fit in training, games and fund raisers. Lyndsey does it with a smile on her face; her care and compassion for the team is an inspiration. We couldn't do it without you either. Thank you Lyndsey 🤩🙌🏻

Good morning Phoenix fans, today's match report comes from a soggy Coatbridge.

The team got a very good workout on a grass pitch, playing against a team that was a level higher. It's always good to test ourselves against these teams to see where we are and we matched them for long spells, especially in the second half. Ultimately it came down to finishing and with the ball bobbling more than we are used to, it was tough to keep the shots on target.

Despite challenging circumstances, the team managed to get the ball on the deck and Leo (our PoTM) bagged an excellent brace. Well done Leo. 👏🏻

This was our last game at 9-a-side before we make the move up to 11's next weekend. We will have so much more space to run into and I'm hoping the players all get some well earned rest ready for it!

Also a big Happy Birthday to 'the shotstopper' AKA Jude Brown. Have a great day!
