Mintlaw Over 35s 3-3 Elizabethan Link Up

A cracking, competitive game tonight against Elizabethan Link Up, played in great spirits from start to finish. 👊🏻

The Over 35s must’ve been a bit too busy speaking about the Aden Music Festival, as no one realised the game had started and we found ourselves 1-0 down almost straight from kick-off 😂

To our credit, we settled into the game and battled our way back, with both sides exchanging goals in what was an entertaining and hard fought match.

There was plenty of experience on the pitch, alongside some boys making their Mintlaw debuts, a few crunching challenges, plenty of chances and, thankfully, no major arguments exactly how these games should be played. 🤝🏻

In the end we could probably be a little bit disappointed with the 3-3 but not bad for a bunch of old boys 👌🏻

Big thanks to Elizabethan Link Up for the game and for playing it in the right spirit. 👏🏻

Despite the crappy weather all day, we had a full house tonight with 20 lads turning up to brave the elements! 🌧️💪🏻

Excellent to see some new faces still turning up, as well as a few lads who have been AWOL of late getting themselves back in the mix! 👊🏻

A great turnout and perfect preparation for our game next week against Cuminestown United FC 2016. 🔥⚽️

Our hardest game to date is up next week as the Mintlaw Over 35s take on NESFA side Cuminestown United FC 2016

We’ve come to realise that every game is a hard game for these old boys 😂 — especially when they’re only used to playing 8/9 a side on a half pitch and suddenly have a full pitch to cover!

⚽ OLD CROOKS 1–9 YOUNG GUNS ⚽

Well, it turns out fitness won in the end! 😂 The U17s ran out comfortable winners, with their pace and energy proving too much for the Over 35s.

Quite a few costly mistakes from the Old Crooks helped along the way which were punished ruthlessly by the Young Guns, who deserved the win on the night.

The scoreline might have been one sided, but it was a brilliant night of football, Was also great to see 6 lads pulling on the Over 35s strip for the very first time and continues to show the appetite 👊🏻
