Some forty or so people attended this informative event. Captain Trevor Seager reviewed last season, praising the efforts of the Hinds for heading Division 3 and their promotion to Division 2.

Awards for that achievemnet were presented by President Frank Foster to (in no particular order) - Malcolm Bubb, Barry and Diane Harris, Carl Ashby, Mike Hodgson, Tony Oliver, Tony Hopkins, Babs White, and Amanda Pilbeam, as seen in the photo.

Trevor then praised Abbotts and Hinds for their efforts in the Divisions, considering it was only the second season we had entered, since the COVID plague.

Malcolm then gave a rundown and reminder of the housekeeping rules for Roll-ups.

On Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays there’s no changes to the way ‘teams’ are selected, and coaching will be Tuesdays and Thursdays or any afternoon/evening, availability permitting.

Draws for the competitions and "Out of the Hat" team selections will be made at the Club on MONDAY 20th OCTOBER probably at 10am.

Well! What a great two days we had for Finals Weekend. The weather forecast was right for once and up to fifty spectators were sat green side, in the late summer sun, to watch some top-notch bowling from the finalists.
Congratulations must go to both Winners and Runners-up whose performances, as agreed by most there, were exceptional.

More than one watcher commented on the standard of bowling, and that it was a treat to see different faces in the finals.

Come to the Presentation Evening to celebrate their achievements, 7pm for 7:30 on Friday 24th October.

From Amanda Pilbeam – Outdoor Competitions Secretary:
Monday 08-Sep-2025 - Good morning everybody.
I know I gave a short speech yesterday but I'm sure I missed people out, so I am now writing an email to everyone.

Yesterday was the culmination of our internal competitions and I hope everybody had a great weekend.
Thank you to everybody who entered the competitions, and those who got to the final for some great matches.
Congratulations to all the winners which I won't list here but are available to see on the website.
Thank you to Derek Lade for keeping this updated.
I think that all the internal competitions that have run throughout the season including the Ray Razzell Trophy and the Charity Day have been a great success, all down to the members for helping and supporting all those competitions.
My personal thanks go to Mim, Jan and Maurice for working so hard in the kitchen to provide refreshments.
To Diane, Terry, Jan, Malcolm, Mike Hodgson, Doreen and Ray for manning the bar so splendidly.
Thanks must go to everybody who marked or manned scoreboards on finals weekend, Ron Whitbread, Derek Lade, Pat Miles, Jean Thorpe, Mike Hodgson, Trevor Seager, Steve Keeler, Alan Johnson, and Derek Mardell who was umpire Sunday afternoon.
Also, Alan Johnson, Jackie Johnson, and Caroline Mannings, for looking after the barbecue so well.
Finally, thanks to the go-to crew who were willing to do anything to help Len Corby, Julie Richardson, Gay Madison, and Linda Whitbread.
I know lots of other people helped in their own way throughout the season and my thanks go to those people as well.
I am sure I have missed people out and I can only apologise for that, but the success of the club is down to the members and the members only and you have all done a fantastic job this year.
Let's hope that we can build upon this success again next year.
Good luck to all the short mat players for their upcoming season and hopefully they will continue to take the club forward.
Amanda x

29-Jun-2025 CHARITY DAY
From Club Members Representative, Gay Maddison:

Sunday 29th June was our Annual Charity Day sponsored by W.S Cole & Son

It was a lovely very sunny hot day, enjoyed by visitors and members along with their families and friends.

We kicked off in the morning with bacon butties followed by a BBQ lunch. Refreshments included tea/coffee and homemade cakes and in the afternoon we welcomed much needed ice creams to cool us down. The bar was open throughout the day.

16 Teams of non-Bowlers competed against each other in a knockout competition, with the Final being played between New Inn B and eventual winners, for the second time, New Inn A, who will soon have to build a bigger trophy cabinet if they’re not careful.

Representing the Main Sponsor our Vice President, Jonathan Cole, presented the awards along with a donation of £300.00. We are awaiting the details of the selected charity. Minster Bowls club will also match their donation.

There was a well-supported raffle. Many of the prizes being donated by local business including Hair of the Dog, Minster Meze, The New Inn & Sequel. We were also supported by MP Sir Roger Gale with a bottle of House of Commons port.

We would like to thank everyone that competed, volunteered or simply came along to support this memorable day.

For general information and membership details, visit our website www.minsterbowlsclub.co.uk, or if our gate is open, please feel free to come in and speak to one of our members, you will be very welcome.

Bowls is a game for all ages. It can be very competitive and energetic, but can also provide gentle exercise for those who are advancing in years. Mainly it gives the opportunity to meet people, and provide mental stimulus in a friendly environment, very important in this day and age.
