Porlock Ladies vs Ilminster First

Today, Porlock Ladies travelled away for their final game of the 2025/2026 season.
The first half saw Ilminster come out strong, pressing hard and stretching play wide while looking to break through the middle. They quickly showed their pace, youth and skill, finding the net three times before half-time. Porlock Ladies didn’t make it easy, continuing to press and battle throughout.
Kez rattled the cross bar showing Ilminster what she was capable off from range.
A special mention needs to go to Helen today, who stepped up in goal despite it not being her usual position when Porlock were without a keeper. She showed real team spirit and resilience, giving everything for the team and playing a key role. Aimee, Georgia and Julie worked tirelessly in midfield and Kez kept delivering some great balls out to Kayleigh on the wing, creating a few promising chances, but the Ilminster keeper kept them at bay.

The second half brought changes and difficult weather conditions, but Porlock Ladies continued to fight. The defence worked hard, covering for each other and staying determined, though Ilminster added to their tally, bringing the score to 9.
Despite this, Porlock Ladies never gave up. Their persistence paid off when Kez struck a fantastic goal from outside the box, making it 9–1. The team kept pushing, and with some excellent link-up play, started from Georgia, out to Kayleigh for a well delivered ball in the box to set up Ellie—one of our newer players—who showed great determination to press the keeper and score, bringing the final score to 9–2.
While the result didn’t go our way, the team spirit never dropped. Porlock Ladies supported, encouraged, and worked for each other right until the final whistle.
A big shoutout to the referee today—one of the best of the season (alongside Dave!).
Player of the match as joint today:
Lauren for her solid defensive performance (and for still wearing her kit on the way home also got her donkey)
Helen for stepping up in goal and giving her all for the team

Today marks the final game of the 2025/2026 season for Porlock Ladies ⚽️❤️

Last year, as a team, we made the decision to step up a league, knowing it would challenge us and push us further. And it definitely has. While we may not have celebrated as many wins as last season, what has never changed is our team spirit.

We support each other, encourage one another, and always choose to focus on the positives rather than the negatives—because that’s what being a team is all about.
Seeing how women’s football has grown and evolved over the past few years is something we’re all incredibly proud to be part of.

We show up for each other.
We support each other.
We want the best for each other.
And we celebrate each other.

Porlock Ladies truly are a unique team.

Porlock Ladies vs Bishop’s Lydeard Reserves

Today Porlock Ladies travelled away for their second-to-last game of the season. The squad was excited just to get some much-needed game time after a quiet couple of months.
First Half
Porlock started strongly, with the defence making it very difficult for Bishop’s Lydeard to break through. Both teams were evenly matched, cancelling each other out and keeping the score level. Both teams truly not settling into the game saw half time goalless.

Second Half
With tired legs and a few changes, Porlock still felt confident, as the scoreline reflected a well-balanced contest. Porlock now settling into the game saw some great football, working the ball well on the ground with triangles and really showing strong teamwork and support for one another. Within 10 minutes, Kez scored a brilliant goal from outside the box to put Porlock 1–0 up.
Bishop’s Lydeard responded quickly with a well-placed ball over the top, bringing the score back to 1–1. Further changes saw Bishop bring on fresh legs and Porlock losing a defender due to injury, unfortunately saw another goal for them to take the lead 2–1.
Despite battling hard to stay in the game, Bishop’s managed to grab another goal. With around 20 minutes remaining, Porlock dug deep to prevent any further goals, despite carrying injuries and fatigue kicking in with no subs on the bench due to 2 injuries. Kez had another great chance from far again but Bishop keeper did well to keep it out. Chloe had a dangerous run into the box to create another chance and Kayleigh was threatening on the right wing putting pressure on all the time but Porlock couldn’t find another goal which they deserved.
The final whistle blew with the score at 3–1.

Donkey: Kayleigh – for turning up hungover and a couple of handballs 😂
Player of the Match: Lauren – for an outstanding performance, giving absolutely everything, covering all over the pitch, being injured and fighting until she couldn’t give any more. Stubborn comes to mind.

Porlock Ladies vs Odd Down Ladies

Location: Dunster Football Club
A big thank you to Dunster FC for allowing us to play at their ground today.

The first half started with Porlock setting up defensively and staying compact across the pitch. This approach paid off for a long time as they successfully kept Odd Down at bay. Despite Odd Down overloading their attack and pushing hard to break through, Porlock worked tirelessly to close gaps and cover for one another.
Eventually, Odd Down managed to break through and scored around the 20-minute mark. Porlock still created several chances of their own and managed to press and challenge Odd Down’s defence. Sarah and Jess worked relentlessly up front, pressing high and preventing long balls from coming through. However, just before half-time Odd Down managed to score again, making it 2–0.
Porlock remained positive at the break and stuck to their defensive game plan. They started the second half sharply and even kept Odd Down pinned in their own half for a period. A free kick was awarded to Porlock, but Aimee’s effort just went over the bar.
A questionable free kick was then awarded to Odd Down, which they managed to convert to make it 3–0. Porlock continued to battle, with Jess taking a fantastic shot from outside the box that skimmed the top of the goal.
The defensive line stuck at it and kept compact forcing Odd Down to take shots outside the box.
As tired legs started to kick in and a few injuries followed, Porlock still showed determination and fight right until the final whistle. Odd Down added two more goals to finish the match with a 5–0 win.

Player of the Match: Kayleigh for her excellent work on the right wing to play defensive but to also make some great attacking runs.

Donkey of the Match: Amber – for many reasons!

Could not be more proud of this team today on how they showed up, played some great football and was determined until the final whistle. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Porlock Ladies Away to Staplegrove Ladies

After two months without football, Porlock Ladies were finally back in action as they travelled away to Staplegrove.
It was an evenly contested game from the start, with both sides creating chances. However, Staplegrove made good use of the slope in the first half and enjoyed the territorial advantage. They created several opportunities and went up 1-0 around the 30 minute mark.
This woke Porlock up a bit and Sarah’s relentless pressing finally paid off when she delivered a perfect ball across the box for Julie to tap home, bringing the score to 1–1 at half time.

Porlock came out for the second half looking like a completely different team. Communication improved, passes were linking up well, and the forwards began to see plenty of the ball as the pressure built. Staplegrove struggled to get out of their own half as Porlock pushed forward in search for the win and 3 points.
Bevens entered the game to provide fresh legs, allowing positional changes that gave Porlock an even greater attacking threat. Chances continued to come, but unfortunately none could find the back of the net.
With just five minutes remaining, Staplegrove played a ball over the top for their quick striker to chase, and she managed to slot it home.
Porlock showed great determination and fight right until the final whistle where tired legs had truly kicked in but it just wasn’t meant to be on the day.

Player of the Match: Rhiannon Powis for her defensive play, reading and commanding the back line. ⚽️Donkey Award: Aimee James for multiple reasons. 🫏

Match Report
Portishead Ladies 8 – 3 Porlock Ladies

Porlock Ladies travelled away to Portishead today with a squad of 15 players for their first game back after the Christmas break. With several weeks off, a few new faces in the squad, no recognised goalkeeper available and facing a young, energetic Portishead side, it was always going to be a tough challenge.

First Half
Manager Christina bravely stepped in as goalkeeper, lining up in front of her a back five of Ellen, Rhiannan, Lauren, Abbie, and Amber. Georgia and Helen sat in holding midfield, with Julie and Aimee on the wings, supporting Kez to attack forward.
Porlock started brightly, pressing high and repeatedly catching Portishead offside. The intensity caused problems early on, but around 20 minutes into the half Portishead managed to break through Porlock’s defence, finishing low into the right-hand corner. With Christina deputising in goal, there was little chance to react.
A controversial refereeing decision soon followed, as a Porlock player was shown a yellow card for what appeared to be a fair challenge. But advantage was played and Portishead’s scored their second goal, making it 2–0. Shortly after, Portishead added a third with a ball over the top for their striker to be 1 on 1 with the step in keeper.
Substitutions followed and a change of line up going to 4 at the back and adding more attacking threat from Chloe, Julie, Aimee and Kez. Bella came on fresh at left back for Amber.
Porlock responded superbly, within minutes saw an assist from Aimee that found Kez, who finished clinically from the right-hand side to pull one back.
Porlock’s momentum continued, and following a strong challenge involving Chloe and the Portishead goalkeeper, Porlock grabbed another goal to make it 3–2 at half time, an impressive comeback.

Second Half
More changes were made: Julie moved into central midfield role to support play, Lauren stepped into goal, Sarah came in at right back.
Portishead started the half quickly, scoring two early goals to extend their lead to 5–2.
Players for Porlock on the bench were pulling injuries and unable to play anymore. So 4 subs soon changed to one.
Porlock refused to give in. Aimee produced a moment of brilliance, scoring an incredible goal from out wide to reduce the deficit.
Despite visible fatigue kicking in now, Porlock continued to push forward, attempting to build play and create triangles. However, Portishead struck again with another well-taken goal over the top, making it 6–3.
The score remained 6–3, giving Porlock renewed belief.
The defence then put in a heroic effort, clearing three goals off the line to protect Lauren in goal. Eventually, Portishead broke through again, adding two more goals late on to seal the game at 8–3.

⭐ Joint Players of the Match: Lauren and Julie – both showed outstanding determination, battling relentlessly throughout the game. (Julie perhaps a bit too much…😂)

Despite the scoreline, Porlock Ladies showed great heart, resilience, and teamwork in extremely challenging circumstances. Plenty of positives to take into the next match.
⚽️⚽️⚽️

Big squad for our first game of the year ⚽️💪
