Our celebration of International Men’s Day 👊

Last evening we celebrated the men who show up — in the gym and in life.

Growth, discipline, brotherhood, and also vulnerability … that’s real strength.

A big shout-out to the men who attended our event, and put in a solid shift. Ross, Sean & Calum loved lifting, chatting and chilling with you all! 💪

On 19th of November, it will be International Men’s Day. Over the next 10 days I’m going to be sharing some insights into issues of masculinity and dispelling a few myths.

The assumption that men don’t or shouldn’t cry is a complete myth. It is misleading, and downright harmful to have this myth continuing to circulate since it can seriously prevent young boys from opening up and expressing their emotions.

I have cried many times in my life. I cried the day my son was born, I cried during the last few weeks of my dad‘s life, I have also cried during sad movies and I have cried when I have felt in dark places.

Crying is a very positive emotion, whether it’s in response to grief, loss, feelings of overwhelming happiness or joy. Men do cry and, in fact, displaying vulnerability is a sign of strength. It should be seen as part of the repertoire of masculinity, rather than simply being a associated with femininity.

Here, our owner and head coach, Ross, talks a little bit about his own bodybuilding context and profile while also sharing some insights into the gym and the kind of clients that we get here.

What makes our Gym distinct is the fact that it is small, intimate and enables people of all ages, genders and fitness abilities to engage in a no-judgement atmosphere. Also, the links between physical and mental health are very much to the forefront with our focus not only own Personal training, fitness classes but also on breathing, mindfulness and relaxation techniques.

It is rare to find a personal training gym that also specialises in mental health support as explicitly as we do.

THE ‘ATLAS GOLF MECHANICS PROGRAMME’ -Open for bookings 🏌️‍♂️

Here you can see participating in this specialised, premium 1-1 coaching programme with our Head Coach, Ross.

John came to us for functional training to assist and sharpen his golf swing and performance on the course.

What we did was to create a hybrid strength/conditioning & stabilsation/speed/agility programme. We focused on exercises that would develop and enhance golf mechanics by developing rotational power, stability, and balance through targeted exercises for the core, legs, and upper body. We also put him on a calorie deficit nutrition plan with focused macro plan and targeted step count to enable him to get leaner and build lean muscle.

John is smashing it. Not only has he lost an amazing 18 pounds, reduced his waist measurement by 4 inches and increased lean muscle definition in his biceps, chest and thighs - he has also vastly improved his performance on the golf course! ⛳️🏌️🏌️
