There’s going to be a number of competitions played in Middlewich between October 24 - March 25. The venue is the Middlewich Victoria Hall (CW10 9AS). The venue is about 5 mins from J18 of the M6. The events will take place on Saturdays & Sundays. Each competition is open to club members only - of which you are being invited to become a club member.
The comps for October will take place on Sunday 6th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 27th - Saturday comps start at 11.00 and Sunday comps start at 10.00. Each event will complete within 4 hours total.
The following is a summary of the events and the structure of the competition:
- Maximum of 16 players for each event
- Hard floor - 4 new mats
- Lightweight jacks
- 4 groups of 4 players. Each player plays 3 games in the round-robin group of 4. 9 ends per game (4 woods each).
- 2 qualify from each group with a straight knockout from 8 players to determine a winner.
Competition fees and prize money breakdown:
- One compulsory payment of £1 for club membership.
- Entry fee is £25.00
- Room Hire is £60 (that is the only charge to be taken from the total prize money). Room hire is chargeable for each event.
- Winner £125
- Runner Up £75
- Losing semi-finalists £40
- Losing Quarter-finalists £15
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRIZE MONEY WILL BE ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY IN THE EVENT THAT WE HAVE LESS THAN 16 PLAYERS.
Additional Rules to be aware of:
- Jacks will be replaced onto marked positions if the are knocked off the side of the mat - this is to stop ends replayed.
- In the group games it will be 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss.
- In the event of players being on the same points at the end of 3 games. The following rules applies to determine qualification:
1. Head to head
2. If drawn at the head to head stage it will be based on the best net points aggregate (shots foraminous shots against)
3. If the net aggregate is the same as another player with the same points and the head to head was drawn, then a 3 end, 2 bowl tie-breaker will be played to determine qualification. One shot maximum can be scored each end and the first player to score two points will be the winner.
