Match Report: Cross Keys vs Dog Daisy United
We made some last-minute changes before kick-off, with Ben Laycock filling in as a makeshift centre-back. The first half was scrappy, with both sides looking dangerous on the counter. We almost took the lead when Dylan Hill’s long-range strike was brilliantly saved by the Cross Keys keeper. Our back four looked solid throughout, with Jennings providing a calm presence behind them.

In the second half, we found our rhythm and began to control the midfield, giving Dom Mellor and Hill more freedom. Hill hit the post after a superb solo run, Mellor and Hill combined to set up Morrison who went close, and AJ Nota forced another fine save. The breakthrough finally came when Rich Allen’s long-range effort took a deflection and found the net.
Cross Keys switched to a back three and equalised after a rare defensive lapse, but our defence stood strong—Laycock throwing himself into several crucial blocks. Full-backs Turner and Scott offered width and attacking outlets throughout.
With time running out, Hill pounced on a Leon assist to fire home and secure a 2–1 win for us.

“In tough, windy conditions, this was always going to be a battle. The lads dug deep and deserved the win. Laycock and Jake Scott were excellent, but I’m proud of everyone for grinding out the result.”
