Today we faced HighGreen Vets FC at home, after last week's performance we was determined to put it right, but it wasn't to be. We fell to a 3-0 defeat. The score line for us doesn't reflect the game after Scott Varney in the high green net had a fantastic game.

Simply put they took there chances and we didn't. All the best high green in your remaining games.

After yesterday's games this is how the table lies. With us still having to play SJR, High green and Jubilee in our last 3 it makes for a very exciting end to the season, all four teams will have the same mindset, win your remaining games and you win the league.

Full time Wickersley 2 - 0 Mexborough

Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be yesterday, knew it was going to be a tough task when we had a couple a lads who couldn't make it on the morning of the game, and on top of that Dez pulling his hammy 2mins in to the game meant we had to face the best side in our opinion with only 2 subs available and limited attacking options.

We did fashion a couple a of chances but in the end Wickersley were deserved winners.

Credit to the lads tho they never stopped and showed if we can get promoted this season we won't be out of place next year.

Full steam ahead for us in the league and all the best of luck to Wickersley in the final.

Man of the match for us was Hilts, calm on the ball and played about 4 different positions yesterday due to lads being injured.

Today's the big one for the lads, toughest test possible as we travel to face arguably the best side in the area for a place in the cup final 🏆⚽

We know full well we will have to be at our best today In what has the makings of a very good contest.

So yesterday we welcomed HighGreen Vets FC to the Fireparts Ltd stadium in the quarter finals of the Geoff Burgess challenge cup.

We started the game poorly, conceding direct from a corner in the opening minutes, and found ourselves 2 down before the 20min mark when another set piece caused mayhem and found its way in.

Credit to the lads, they could have easily folded at that point but they dug deep and started to get on the ball, a good ball in behind saw us win a penalty as the keeper was judged to bring down Cushy.

Rich Williams stepped up and calmly converted to put us back in the game, then 5 mins before half time, cushy was again in behind, he looked to square it before the defender managed to put a toe on it, but luckily for us it fell to a very grateful Matty Moore who hammered it home to get us back level.

HT 2-2.

Second half we came out and managed to get on the ball again, another great run in behind from Grant Cusworth saw him get his goal, as he lobbed the on rushing keeper before heading home to make sure.

Credit to High green they also kept going and leveled 15mins before full time with a good strike from just outside the box.

In all honesty, both teams had chances to win it. But it finished 3-3 so off to pens it went.

Wozza being the hero saving high greens last pen as well cooly converted all five of ours.

That's us in to the semis where we face our toughest test to date, away Vs Wickersley.

Finally got our quarter final game on today after a couple of failed attempts Vs HighGreen Vets FC.

Yesterday the lads travelled to Doncaster Elite looking to continue the good work from the week prior.

The first half, was a very dominant performance, but it took an OG for the deadlock to be broken as we simply couldn't find the back of the net ourselves. We went in to half time with a 0-1 lead.

Second half the game Carried on in a similar fashion, but this time we managed to take some chances, Matty Moore doubling our lead as he scored again with a calm finish past the keeper ( who also made some fantastic saves)

We was awarded a pen when some good work from Matt rollinson saw him brought down in the box, Scatt smashed the pen home, only for the ref to make him retake it for player encroachment 🙄 an he smashed it again, only this time in to orbit.

That didn't stop him tho as a wonderful through ball from Matty Moore put him in a position to lob the on rushing keeper to make it 0-3

Paul Scattergood then got a chance to make amends from the spot after Matty Moore was smashed about 5 foot in the air as the defender claimed he never touched him, this time the lads stayed out of the box as Scatt slotted home.

FT 0-4, probably should have scored plenty more.

Yesterday we welcomed the top of the league unbeaten SJR, with the weather not being great we opted to move to DVC astro to ensure the game was played, and boy are we glad we did.

First half was very end to end, which the visitors scored from the spot to take a 0-1 lead in to half time, but credit to the lads they didn't panic and second half they smothered SJR, who rarely managed to get forward.

Rich Williams got us back in the game 5 mins in the second half when his wonderful curled effort from the edge of the box left the keeper unable to move.

We then kept pushing and with around 15 to go, some good build up play down the left saw the ball at cushys feet who dropped it over the defence for Matty Moore to run on to a lob the on rushing keeper 2-1

In to the final 5 and Good work rate from Matt rollinson earned us the chance from the spot as the keeper came out and brought him down, tbf to the keeper he got hands on the Paul Scattergood pen but there was too much power on it, the keeper then saw the sin bin for his protests.

The icing on the cake was with the last action of the game, Matt rollinson picked up the ball inside the area dropped a shoulder and fired a shot at the keeper who could only palm it back out to Liam smith who tapped home with the last kick off the game.

FT Mexborough 4 - 1 SJR

Credit to SJR they were very complimentary at full time and you can see why they have done so well this season.

Man of the match - Grant cusworth won everything today up top, pinned the defence, held the ball well and brought people in to play, had one ruled out for offside that looks harsh on the Veo cam footage.
