Next up in our Senior Coaching Team series, we introduce Rob James – AKA “Jamer”, who joins the team as Assistant Coach for the 2026/27 season.

Jamer certainly knows Matson RFC inside out, having been involved with the club for 33 years – plenty of experience, stories and memories from Redwell Road! 🖤🤍

🌴🎶 A BIG THANK YOU FROM MATSON RFC 🎶🌴

Yesterday, Redwell Road came alive for our annual Rum & Reggae event – one day in the year that makes a huge difference to our grassroots rugby club.

Like so many community sports clubs, keeping the doors open, maintaining our facilities and providing rugby for our players and young people comes with ever-increasing costs. Events like Rum & Reggae aren’t just about a great day out – they help our club survive, grow and continue to be here for our community.

🏉🩷 GIRLS DEVELOPMENT SQUAD – TOMORROW! 🩷🏉

A little reminder that our Girls Development Squad is back at Redwell Road tomorrow morning!

Our sessions are aimed at girls going into Years 3, 4 and 5 – and absolutely no rugby experience is needed. It’s all about having fun, making friends, building confidence and giving rugby a go! 🖤🤍🩷

So if your daughter has enjoyed one of our trial sessions – or hasn’t managed to make one yet but would like to get involved – come along tomorrow and see what Matson Girls Rugby is all about!

We’re looking for experienced casual bar staff to join us at Redwell Road behind the bar on matchdays, events and busy club nights.

We’re looking for people who:
⭐ Have previous bar experience
⭐ Are friendly, reliable and confident
⭐ Can work evenings and weekends
⭐ Are happy to work as part of a busy team

Whether you’re looking for a few extra shifts or regular casual work, we’d love to hear from you.

🏉 2026/27 SEASON UPDATE | MATSON RFC

Following the latest announcement from the RFU, the start of the competitive community rugby season has been delayed until the week commencing Monday 21st September.

Like many clubs across the country, we’ve seen first-hand the impact the prolonged dry weather has had on our pitches at Redwell Road. Player welfare and safety must always come first, so we fully understand the decision that has been made.

Of course, we know everyone is itching to get back out there and get the 2026/27 season underway! 🖤🤍

Our coaches and committee will now work through what the announcement means for our upcoming fixtures and preparations, and we’ll share further updates with players, supporters and sponsors as soon as we have them.

In the meantime, training continues, the work continues and we’ll make sure we’re ready when competitive rugby returns. 💪

A few more weeks to prepare.
