Well ive finished all the ride admin, kit is all washed, sorted & packed away, invoices paid and ive been back at work for two days, so it was lovely to get this message this morning 👌some rides stay with you long after you get home and i think the Long Mynd ride is def one of those special rides 😉

What a day! ❤️

As the dust settles on our Heart of England Group Long Mynd Ride, I'd simply like to say... thank you.

Thank you to every rider who chose to spend their day with us, we hope you enjoyed the stunning scenery, the challenging routes and, most importantly, went home with happy memories.

Behind every successful ride is an army of volunteers, and today was no exception. From our secretary's team, vets, farrier and caterers, to our checkpoint crews, parking marshals, stewards and everyone working quietly behind the scenes including my non-horsey family – thank you. You gave up your weekend to make the day happen, and we couldn't do it without you.

A special thank you also goes to the National Trust, the Long Mynd commoners and graziers, our landowners, and everyone who helped us deliver the ride safely in what were challenging conditions. Your support and cooperation are hugely appreciated.

Congratulations to everyone who completed their ride and to those receiving Performance Awards. Every distance, every finish and every partnership between horse and rider is an achievement worth celebrating.

Finally, if you captured any photos or videos during the day, we'd love to see them. Please share them in the comments—we've already seen a few and they look absolutely fantastic!

I absolutely love the Long Mynd, and it will always have a special place in my heart. However, I was only ever looking after the ride to ensure it passed from Sally Toye to Sharon Moore without a hitch, but I do hope to see many of you there again next year, as I'm hoping to bring my youngster, Elektrik Akhdar, to experience the mighty Long Mynd hills for the first time... (shh... don't tell him how big those hills really are! 😉)

Thank you for being part of another wonderful day of endurance riding. Be sure to give your horses an extra pat from us.

Sally Toye has done a whopping 27km of route marking today, its a good job she's as fit as a fiddle, as im not sure if i could have managed that 🙏 the work that happens behind the scenes is really something that we maybe dont appreciate as riders but when you have a great team of people it helps to share the load and what a ride it is👌 here are the markers to look out for 👀

A productive day, last minute route checks & stopped off at some of the farms / farmers on route. Mark was busy clearing bales from the venue field and Brian up on Hill farm has offered us access through his field to avoid a very overgrown stretch of bridleway 👌i even got to stop for a refreshing cider at Bridges, so its all coming together very nicely 😉

There is only one advised crew point at CP1 / pole cottage and that should be fine especially with cooler temps. https://w3w.co/pack.uppermost.cabbages
For those on the 18k loop you will pass it half way.
If you are doing 32k you will pass it twice.
And if you're on the 40k loop you will pass the crew point once, then the water point, then back through the crew point a second time.
You can crew at CP3 if you wish too but it takes quite a while to drive there and its not that far from the venue 🤔 please remember there is no crewing allowed in the village of Minton 🙏
