Our U14s recorded their first league win of the season this weekend in what can only be described as a game of two halves – and one that had just about everything.

The visitors, Flinton Flyers Phoenix, came with a good squad and settled quickly. Despite us taking the lead through a well-taken finish from Evan, they responded strongly and went into the break 3-1 up. At half-time we spoke about composure, keeping our shape, and not letting our heads drop – and the team responded in style.

The turnaround was superb. With some positional changes and a little more urgency on the ball, we began to take control. Alex produced a remarkable spell of finishing, scoring five goals in quick succession, and suddenly we found ourselves 6-3 up. The movement, the passing, and the way the team supported each other in that period was excellent and showed just what they are capable of.

But credit must go to Flinton Flyers Phoenix. They didn’t fold and came straight back at us, showing real character and quality. A few lapses in our concentration, plus perhaps some tired legs, meant the game was pulled back to 6-6. At that point, momentum was very much with the visitors.

What followed was a tense final few minutes. We continued to press, and when awarded a penalty late on, Blake stepped up under pressure and tucked it away confidently to secure the 7-6 win. A dramatic ending to a game that was played in the right spirit from start to finish and was a massively entertaining match for all spectators.

Player of the Match was shared between Sam and Jasper, both of whom put into practice exactly what we’ve been working on in training – being decisive, reading the flight of the ball, and meeting it early. Their consistency and focus set the tone for others around them. 🏅🏅👏

Flinton Flyers Phoenix deserve huge credit for their part in such an entertaining match. Their comeback showed the strength and spirit they have, and on another day the result could easily have gone their way. Players, manager, and spectators were a credit to the club and we look forward to playing the return game. We wish them well in their upcoming fixtures.🙌

For us, it’s a result to be proud of but also one with lessons to learn. Concentration and discipline will be key as we move forward, but the character and resilience shown today were a big step in the right direction. 🚀

Our U14s kicked off our season at home on the 3G in perfect conditions. The result didn’t go our way, but what we saw out there was nothing short of outstanding in terms of effort, attitude, and team spirit.

We created plenty of chances throughout the game and had multiple shots on goal – on another day (and with a little more accuracy) we would have been rewarded with a few more goals to our name. The defence looked more organised than ever, with players really starting to put the work from training into action. Midfield were brave on the ball, looking to get it down and play, and linked up brilliantly to move us forward.

What was most pleasing, though, was the mentality (which has been a problem for us in the past). Mistakes were shrugged off quickly, teammates stepped in with encouragement, and the group worked for one another from the first whistle to the last. That support and positivity made a huge difference, and it showed just how much progress we’ve made as a team.

The biggest cheer of the day came not for a goal, but for a last-minute penalty save from Craggy 🙌. To see the whole team cheering together at that moment – despite the result – says everything about how far this squad has come.

This is a team that’s learning, improving, and maturing every week. The football was great, the spirit was even better, and we’re proud of every single one of them. The season ahead is going to be a good one🚀.

Our first match of the new season was a tough cup test against opposition from a higher division - Hall Road Rangers Sharks U14. The team showed great grit, determination, and team spirit from start to finish.

The opening spell was pretty evenly matched with strong tackles, good link-up play, and excellent support for one another. The team were really holding their own and looked to take the game to the opposition. As the game wore on Hall Road Rangers Sharks U14 hit their stride and the goals went against us, but the team kept battling right to the end and were rewarded with a well-deserved goal for their perseverance.

There were lots of positives to take – we looked to get the ball down and play, switched the play well, and most importantly stuck together. Despite the scoreline, the unity and maturity shown was excellent and a big step forward from last season. On this showing we're going to cause problems for a few teams - well done team!

Well done Hall Road Rangers Sharks U14 and best of luck for the new season. Also big shout-out to the referee for handling the match so well.

Plenty for MWTFC U14s to build on and an exciting season ahead.

The new year brought a fresh spark to the squad as we welcomed Hall Road Rangers Panthers. After a disappointing performance in our last meeting (where the team felt they hadn't done themselves justice), we were eager to show what we’re really made of – and this time, it all came together. From the opening whistle, our players demonstrated the passing, movement, and team spirit we’ve been working on, and seeing, in training.

We took control early doors, moving the ball confidently and carving out chance after chance. The team’s positive mindset shone through, as everyone stayed focused on supporting one another and keeping their composure on the ball. The goals flowed thick and fast, reflecting both our attacking intent and the determination we’ve been striving to instil. Even when the odd mistake crept in, heads stayed up, they supported one another, and then got straight back to the task at hand.

At the back our defence were organised and rarely and always looked to take control and build through midfield instead of simply clearing. It was a day of debuts between the sticks, with Jake C relishing the challenge and making some vital saves. Well deserving of a PoM award today, well done Jake C! 🏅

Further up the pitch, our forwards and midfielders pressed relentlessly, never allowing the Panthers to really settle into their game. Some great pass-and-move combinations being used to great effect - but mixing it up with some precision long-range passing when the opportunity presented itself. Edward, in the striker role, benefitting and bagging himself 6 goals. But his overall performance, of constantly pressing from the front, also helped earn him a PoM award - great work Edward! 🏅

By the final whistle, we had put a great performance in against a strong side - reminding ourselves what we can achieve when everyone’s "on it" and showing the right attitude and effort 🙌

A huge thank you to all our supporters for braving the damp winter morning and cheering us on. This performance was one to savour, and it’s clear the team are relishing their football. Onwards and upwards! 👏

On a damp Sunday morning, we hosted Hall Road Rangers Hawks U13 and once again focused on our message of "performance over results." The players responded with positive attitudes, teamwork, and determination, making it a performance to be proud of despite the scoreline.

The game saw some fantastic passing and communication across the pitch, with the team working hard to create several chances that, on another day, could have easily gone in. Importantly, heads never dropped, and the players continued to support each other throughout.

Player of the Match was George, who showed great versatility. In the first half, he pulled off some excellent saves in goal, and in the second half, he impressed outfield with composed and positive play, causing problems for the opposition.

A big thank you to Helen for stepping in for Scott, Rob for running the line, and to all the parents for their ongoing support. The team continues to grow, and performances like this show the progress being made.

On a morning perfect for football, we took on Kingswood Utd Hornets in what turned out to be a game packed with energy, skills and great attitudes from the team. From the outset, our message to the team was clear: that we'll take performance over the result any day of the week. The response on the pitch showed that the players took this on board, displaying the kind of commitment and teamwork we’ve been pushing for.

The first half saw our defence working hard to contain Kingswood’s quick attacks - communicating well and moving as a unit. Luke made some smart saves and confidently played out from the back whenever the opportunity arose, showing the team's intent to play attractive football.

While we went down early to a high, looping shot that left little chance for a stop, we quickly settled and started putting together some impressive passing sequences. Edward's well-taken goal, following a great through-ball from Evan, was a highlight that reflected our attacking potential.

We went into halftime at 3-1, but spirits were high, and the halftime talk was focused on maintaining that positive performance. The second half saw some shuffling of positions, and although we conceded three more goals, the team's attitude and effort never wavered. It was ace to see them fight for each other and play with purpose, taking many of the lessons from training onto the pitch.

Player of the Match was Jake, whose relentless energy and determination was evident throughout the match. He challenged for every ball, drove forward fearlessly, and kept his composure throughout – a great example of the attitude we're looking for. 👊

While the scoreline reads 6-1, the performance was full of positives, and we’re proud of how the team is coming together. There have been less smiles than this when we've come out on top in matches early in the season - so it's fair to say the players are enjoying it. Thanks to all the supporters who braved the chill to cheer the team on – your encouragement makes all the difference! 🙌

It was an early kick-off under perfect conditions as we faced BARHAM AFC Blues, the unbeaten league leaders. Despite conceding almost instantly to a quick attack down the wing, our team dug deep and responded well, quickly levelling the score and then taking 2-1 lead. It was no more than the team deserved and exactly the type of display we had called for following a few slow starts of late. For a side at the top of the league, Barham found themselves in an unexpected battle!

As the first half wore on, Barham’s quality began to show, and we went into halftime down 4-2. Although the score-line was tough, those opening minutes showed just what our team is capable of when they’re switched on and working together.

The second half proved challenging as the heads dropped and Barham took full advantage - but the early play and fighting spirit reminded us of the progress we’re making. Our Player of the Match, Edward, was outstanding, scoring two well-deserved goals and giving a tireless effort throughout. 🏅

We came across a great side today in Barham AFC Blues and competed well for over a third of the match. We'll take that and build on it into our next match. Good luck to Barham AFC Blues for the rest of the season - not only a good footballing side but a set of kids, coaches, and supporters with great attitudes! 👏
