Final player profile series, we are delighted to officially welcome Amelia to Clipstone Fiorentina FC Girls U15s! ⚽️

Amelia will be wearing the number 17 shirt this season and joins us to strengthen our defensive options at centre back. And she will be sponsored by M&J Ballers Coaching Academy. Thanks Matt⚽️

A strong and composed defender, Amelia is comfortable on the ball and has the confidence to play out from the back, which fits perfectly with the way we want to play. She is also not afraid of a tackle and brings a real physical presence to the team.

After some really positive training sessions and preseason friendlies, we are excited to see Amelia continue to develop with us and become an important part of the squad.

💜🩷 FROM WHERE IT ALL BEGAN IN 1928… TO COMING BACK HOME 🩷💜

As we look towards an incredibly exciting new chapter for Clipstone, it feels right to take a moment to remember where it all began.

For many people, the story of Clipstone Welfare FC starts at the Lido. But actually the very first Clipstone team played on Baulker Lane, right beside Clipstone Colliery.

From there, the club moved to the Lido, which has been its home ever since.

And now, after all these years, the story is coming full circle ⭕️ .

With Clipstone Football Club, Clipstone Cricket Club, Clipstone Colts and the wider sporting community all set to return to the former colliery site, the place where so much of Clipstone’s sporting heritage was born will once again become home, a new community hub for all.

This time, though, it will be a very different home.
A state of the art, purpose built multisport facility, with modern pitches, bar and restaurant, conference facilities, changing rooms and spaces designed for the whole Clipstone community.

From the old days at Baulker Lane and the Lido, to a brand new future at the former colliery site the birth place of Clipstone never mind the sports clubs.

Different grounds. Different generations. Same community. Same spirit. Securing the long term future of our proud sporting clubs.

The club has travelled a long way, We’re not leaving our history behind, we’re taking it with us as we move towards a bigger, better and stronger future.

And soon….we’re coming back home where it all began. We can’t wait to finally be able to expand and continue to grow our girls section and provide the local community with amazing facilities to have fun and play the game we all

💜🩷 DGLL SEASON OPENER |
STAPENHILL 2 -0 CLIPSTONE 🩷💜

If ever there was a game where it just wasn’t your day, today was it.

Stapenhill, formerly Swadlincote, finished 4th last season, so this was always going to be a really good opening test for the girls. But honestly, the scoreline does not tell the story of the game.

The amount of chances we created in the first half alone was unreal. Clipstone played the right way, moved the ball well and created chance after chance, but their goalkeeper was absolutely outstanding and was comfortably their best player. The first half could genuinely have been 4-1 to us.

It felt like if we could just get that first goal, we would go on and score six. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t to be. We were punished by a long ball upfield that we failed to deal with and Stapenhill took the lead.

The second half continued in much the same way. Clipstone were the better side, creating more chances and controlling large parts of the game, but again we could not find the finish. We could easily have scored three or four again but their keeper again was outstanding.

Then came another long ball which clearly was their game plan, that we failed to deal with and suddenly it was 2-0.

Today was simply one of those days where we did most things right apart from putting the ball in the net. Plenty of positives to take, plenty to work on and a very good opening test against a side who finished 4th last season.

Beth worked hard up front, created some really good opportunities and forced some excellent saves from their goalkeeper.

Heads up girls. We go again.

The squad is ready, the season is here and we cannot wait to see what this group can achieve together in the top Saturday league as we step into DGLL Division 1 ⚽️🔥

There will be tough games, plenty of learning, some laughs and hopefully lots of memories along the way!

This is more than just a football team….

Match Highlights - Clipstone 4-3 Sheff Utd Junior Blades

💜🩷 CLIPSTONE FC GIRLS 4 - 3 SHEFFIELD UNITED 🩷💜

A brilliant way to finish our preseason with a 4-3 victory over a strong and physical Sheffield United Junior Blades 1981 side.

After the 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture a few weeks ago, the girls were determined to put things right and they started brilliantly. Some of the best football we have played all preseason produced three excellent first half goals, with two from Lois and one from Alanya.

The biggest positive was how the goals were created. Playing out from the back, playing through the lines and creating triangles, the girls executed exactly what we have been working on in training. 👏🏼⚽️

Sheffield United improved in the second half and their physicality made things difficult, but Aimee’s long range effort put Clipstone 4-1 ahead. Sheffield fought back with two more goals to make it nervy towards the end, but the girls held on for a well deserved victory.

⭐ PLAYER OF THE MATCH: LOIS
Two goals, outstanding communication and brilliant organisation from midfield. An excellent performance from Lois and a fantastic team effort to finish preseason with a win.

Now we prepare for the real thing. The season starts next weekend!. 💜🩷
