“Is it just me, or is it getting quiet out there?”
I posted this in my group last week, but I realised, more people need to hear this!..
I saw this question: “Is it just me, or is it getting quiet out there?” In a PT group a couple of weeks ago and it hit hard.
This was from someone who's been a successful mobile PT for 13 years mentioned things have gone quiet lately.
Not burnt out.
Not slacking. Just… quiet.
And the comments on the post were full of replies like:
“It’s the rise of online coaches and AI.”
“Too many free YouTube workouts now.”
“People don’t need 1-2-1 like they used to.”
“Cost of living… people just can’t afford it.”
And I get it.
The game has changed.
But here’s the truth no one really says out loud:
Being “just” a PT isn’t enough anymore.
Not because you’re not good enough, but because the market has evolved.
Your potential clients don’t just want a workout plan.
They want a connection.
They want coaching.
They want accountability.
They want clarity.
They want someone to help them cut through the noise and finally make it stick.
Because let’s face it, there are a million free workouts online, and AI can write a decent plan in 10 seconds.
There are apps that track everything from macros to mindfulness.
So, if your value stops at “I’ll write your workouts and check in once a week”…
…You will get drowned out.
But, if you go beyond that?
If you learn how to coach, not just train people.
If you really know your niche and speak directly to their goals, fears and daily chaos.
If you learn how to sell with integrity and market with clarity...
You will never go out of business.
This is more important than ever because the world is moving in two directions:
AI Trainers: low cost, free, freemium apps, generalist plans, “good enough” workouts.
And
Human Coaches – specific, niche-focused, emotionally intelligent, results-driven.
People won’t stop spending.
They’ll just spend differently.
The ones who are struggling aren’t always offering the wrong thing. They’re often just selling it the wrong way, to the wrong people, in the wrong language.
It’s not about more followers.
It’s not about TikTok trends.
It’s about mastering your message and learning how to connect in a world that's overloaded with choice.
And the best part?
The people you want to work with are craving real, authentic connections more than ever.
They’re tired of being a number.
They want to be seen.
Heard.
Coached.
That’s why this is the greatest opportunity we’ve had as coaches.
So, if it’s gone quiet for you lately, know this...
It’s not that you’re not good at what you do. You’re just being called to evolve.
And if you lean into this, if you choose to become more than “just a PT”.
You won’t just survive the shift.
You’ll thrive in it!
