K9 Search and Rescue NI is commencing deployment to Venezuela in response to the recent earthquake which has affected parts of the country.
Our personnel are currently beginning their travel route and have checked in at Belfast International Airport. The team will travel to London to link up with our partners at Serve On before continuing onward to Madrid, where they will meet colleagues from SAR Team ahead of deployment into the affected area.
As part of this deployment, K9 Search and Rescue NI is deploying a specialist Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) dog, trained to locate casualties trapped within collapsed structures and disaster environments. The USAR dog will work alongside international search and rescue teams to assist in the search for survivors.
The deployment will see specialist search and rescue personnel and resources mobilised to support international humanitarian response efforts, working alongside partner organisations and local authorities.
