There are also roughly monthly Manchester Slow Balboa Community Dance workshops at the weekends at a variety of communi

ty venues, as well as some ad-hoc events with guest teachers and live bands. Venues so far have included:

- Live Wire Studios - Liverpool (Mersey Swing collab)
- Manchester University Students' Union

After running monthly workshops in the "before times" we moved to facilitating pay as you feel virtual pre-recorded classes at home for 2 years and swapped between concentrating on balboa and slow balboa. This was designed for solo and partnered practice, and to keep the community going, whilst raising funds for professional teachers. Please message us if this is a format you are interested in - we still have access to a library of resources. We are also an active group of social dancers and you can find us often at Tipple Step, Matt and Phreds Jazz Bar, The Blues Kitchen, The Carlton Club, the Refuge and car sharing road trips to Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool, Lancaster, Cheshire, Calder Valley, Bronte Balboa in Haworth.... and anywhere else who invites us! We can also be found at events up and down the UK and abroad such as Bal, Slow Bal 2023, 2023 Lindy Exchange and Paradise Shuffle☝️🎷👣💜

More music events for dancing from the Friends of Stretford Public Hall in Manchester. First up - Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats on Sat 27th April.

Our upcoming events start with live music from Dr Jazz and The Cheshire Cats on 27th April, 7pm-10pm. They will present an evening of swinging big band sounds to get you dancing the night away.
Look forward to classic big band numbers from Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller and many more…

Then we have our popular Northern Soul and Motown Night on 4th May, 8pm-11pm, bring your dancing shoes, but leave the talc at home, we have a 'No Talc on the dance floor' policy!

Finally, the Acoustic Café goes Strictly Ballroom on 25th May, 7pm-11pm. This showcase will bring an array of artists to perform their mainly self-penned songs to a wider audience in our hall.
Musicians involved include Alan Bitterman, Peter King, Cliff Cheetham, Lucy Nyland, Mike Byrne, Chris Eatough, John Atkinson and George Linton.
