■What are the main Football Priorities for the New PFF■
Football development in Pakistan faces both significant challenges and opportunities. While the sport has a large grassroots following, its development has been hindered by political interference, poor governance, lack of infrastructure, and limited investment. Here are the key priorities for football development in Pakistan:
■1. Governance and Institutional Stability
Revive and stabilize the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF): The organization has suffered from internal power struggles and FIFA suspensions.
Compliance with FIFA and AFC regulations: To ensure continuity in international participation and funding.
Transparency and merit-based appointments in administration and coaching roles.
■2. Grassroots Development
Create a national grassroots program: Encourage football in schools, colleges, and communities, especially in underserved regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where talent is abundant.
Youth academies: Partner with local clubs, NGOs, and international federations to launch talent development academies.
Coaching education: Train and license coaches across the country with AFC-certified programs.
■3. Infrastructure Development
Upgrade existing facilities and build new football fields and training centers.
Regional centers of excellence: Focus on building quality hubs in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, and Peshawar.
Partnerships with private sector to develop public-private stadiums and training complexes.
■4. Domestic League Development
Professionalize the Pakistan Premier League (PPL): Ensure stable clubs, media coverage, marketing, and sponsorship.
Introduce youth and women's leagues: Build U-13, U-15, U-17, and women’s national competitions.
Club licensing: Enforce minimum standards for clubs in terms of finance, facilities, and development programs.
■5. Women’s Football
Support and expand the women’s national team program.
Build dedicated women’s leagues at school, college, and club levels.
Protect women players: Create a safe, inclusive, and equitable environment.
■6. International Exposure
Friendly matches and tours for youth and senior national teams.
Exchange programs with countries in South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Send players abroad to train and compete in more competitive environments.
■7. Talent Identification and Scouting
Nationwide scouting network: Use schools, tournaments, and open trials.
Data-driven scouting tools: Use tech and analytics to monitor performance and development.
■8. Media, Marketing, and Fan Engagement
Rebrand Pakistan football: Create a compelling identity and storytelling strategy.
Use digital media to promote leagues, players, and youth stories.
Monetize interest: Attract sponsors and broadcasters with better product packaging.
