Follow the team as they target a third promotion in three years whilst focussing on developing their football abilities, learning to work as a team and growing into young men.

FULL TIME: The Main 2, Wombwell Town U15’s 1.

A completely different test today for the boys as they were pitted against a tall and physical Wombwell team coming off the back of promotion themselves last term.

The fixture started scrappy as most do, both teams trying to exert some dominance onto the other but a lovely drive and finish from Jack ⚽️ gave the visitors the lead.

Not too long after a direct ball allowed the hosts to get in behind and a smidge of hesitation between new faces saw the Wombwell striker poke home the equaliser.

As the game wore on the boys worked hard to control the game and play their game and over time they did that more and more.

Creating good chances and openings without being able to get the final killer touch.

The same pattern continued in the second and fitness seemed to tell as the Main managed the directness of the hosts well and continued to create things.

Then after a fumble by the keeper Finlay ⚽️ was the quickest to react and coolly worked the balls around the keeper to slot home waist turned out to be the winner.

Overall the boys battled extremely well against a physically superior team, which is all great preparation for the season to come.

A little break from fixtures next as many take their holidays, before the final push ahead of that season opener.

FULL TIME: The Main 5, Harworth 1.

A second run out for the boys this pre-season, with a step up against Doncaster C division outfit Harworth at Scrooby Lane.

With the pitches scorched and a strong wind out to cause havoc both team struggled for five minutes to get any kind of foothold on the game.

But the boys did slowly start to assert themselves on the host and a free kick from Pawel ⚽️ gave the visitors the lead after 10 minutes.

That settled things more and the level of football got better, as much as it could considering the conditions.

Then around 15 minutes in Max ⚽️ saw a lofted effort catch the Colliery’s keeper off guard and lobbed to double the Mains lead.

Shortly after it was 3-0. A quite fantastic effort from Jack ⚽️ rubber stamping control over the fixture.

Still there was time for Hayden ⚽️ to show his strikers instincts to nip in between the defenders and slot home for a fourth.

Not much needed to be said at half time other than a few pointers and the wind was clearly now in the favour of the host with the turnaround.

The game became much too scrappy for our liking and it allowed the host to come back into the game more and they forced Thomas 🧤 into some tidy saves before finally hitting a consolation goal to make it 4-1.

But as we scream from the sidelines all the time, we don’t care about mistakes, errors or conceded goals, we care about immediate positive reactions and that’s exactly what we got.

Some great play broke behind Harworth back line and the move was finished off by Jack ⚽️ to get his second of the game.

Both teams continued to push for goals and the game become more and more stretched, but defensively we looked near the levels we want to be and limited the hosts to long distance efforts at best.

All in all another step forwards and we thank Harworth for inviting us and with them well in their season to come.

Next up will be an other solid test this upcoming Subday as the group look to keep building toward that September curtain raiser.

COLOUR RUN 2026!

Fundraising is the base from which our club continues to offer some of the best facilities and equipment to our players whilst doing so with some of the lowest subs in the wider area.

This year was a major success but as always we’re looking to up the ante next year. More prizes, bigger run and MORE RUNNERS!

Thanks to all that took part this year, looking forward to doing it again next year with even more of us.

FULL TIME: The Main 4, Sheffield Jaguars 0.

A first pre-season outing pitted the Main against a stubborn opponent from last season in the form of Sheffield Jaguars at Ecclesfield Park.

With a few changes from last seasons promotion winning side, it was unknown how the group would get on but they took control very early and didn’t let up for the entirety of the game.

After a lovely through ball it was Zander ⚽️ who opened the scoring with a lovely long range effort.

The group proceeded to create several chances without being able to capitalise before Ethan ⚽️ made sure of a second when up for a corner.

At half time there wasn’t really much to say other than to warn against the long ball and how to deal with it and the boys did so impeccably.

Another half of dominance continued and more goals probably should have been scored but Hayden ⚽️ added another when the hosts keeper parried a strong effort from Pawel.

Then later a second Declan Rice-esque effort from Zander ⚽️ completed the scoring to give the boys a brilliant boost at the start of pre-season.

Back to the training pitch to keep pushing and working towards our next pre-season test soon.

We are on the lookout for a mid to high level left footed midfielder/wing back and an attacker to complete our squad for the upcoming season.

We have already strengthened from last season and are looking to really kick on next term and so are hoping to find the final two pieces of the jig saw.

2025/26 OVER AND OUT!

As we bring the curtain down on another fantastic season for the group, we’d like to thank everyone involved in making this happen.

Club officials, coaches, parents and players alike, it’s been a real team effort and it’s been great to celebrate the groups successes together.

2026/27 U14’s TRIALS

We are holding training over the next month (Thursdays 6-7 on the 3G at Maltby Academy) and offering the opportunity for trials to help fill a few places in the squad ahead of next season.

Our ethos is to push technical ability, aiming to play pleasing but effective football. We definitely aim to win but encourage our players to make mistakes in the right places so they can learn, improve and have positive reactions.

LEAGUE AWARDS! 🥈

A fantastic evening at Barnsley Metrodome as the Main attended their second event in two years to celebrate a second runners up spot and second promotion.

Well done and thank you to all parents, coaches and player who made this season the success it’s been.

PROMOTION PARTY AT PORTER!

And with a hard fought victory our NINE! month 2025/26 campaign draws to a close with our second promotion in two seasons secured.

A nervy opening period gave for tense watching as the boys tried to find their feet in the game with an obvious worry about not falling short.

But a lofted free kick from deep helped settle the nerves at Noah ⚽️ lobbed Theo Porter keeper to give the Main the advantage.

As the first half progressed the group began to take control and create a number of half chances but lacked that killer edge.

At half time we all spoke about sticking to the plan but unfortunately the emotions seemed to take control and the game descended into an end to end affair.

Although the boys managed to stifle the hosts to hardly a single attempt on goal whilst they continued to create chances at the other end.

And eventually the pressure paid off as Hayden won a penalty which Ethan ⚽️ calmly dispatched to give the team a cushion and set them on their way to victory.

The player of the match was shared across the team after they all contributed to achieving this years aim of winning promotion.

Time for a small break before we reset and go again with the renewed aim of winning a third promotion in three season.
