Colchester Roman Society In 1987 a small group of local enthusiasts got together to form what is now known as The Colchester Roman Society.

We embrace all aspects of Roman life and take part in shows all over the UK and in Europe.

Colchester has some of the richest history of anywhere in the country but for too long we have not made the most of it

This weekend it was fantastic to see world renowned Roman Historian Dame Mary Beard invited to Colchester by our MP Pam Cox.

She visited the Roman Circus and held a Q&A at Firstsite.

Pam Cox MP and Cllr Lee Scordis, the new Heritage and Culture Portfolio Holder, are determined to put Colchester’s history on the map.
