Yesterday my posing coach asked if I wanted to wait until my hip felt better before we carried on with posing.
It was a completely reasonable question.
But I found myself saying:
“The thing is, my hip isn’t going to get better. I have arthritis.”
And it got me thinking.
That sounds quite negative written down. But I don’t actually mean it negatively.
It’s acceptance.
I can manage it. I can adapt around it. I can choose what’s worth doing and what isn’t. Some days I can do more than others.
But if I keep waiting for a future version of my body where nothing hurts and everything works perfectly before I do the things I want to do…
I could spend an awful lot of my life waiting.
I have arthritis AND I’m an athlete.
I can be in pain AND be incredibly strong.
I can have limitations AND still have big goals.
For me, training isn’t about pretending those limitations don’t exist. It’s about understanding them, respecting them and working with the body I have.
Acceptance isn’t resignation.
And perhaps strength isn’t always about overcoming something.
Sometimes it’s about saying:
*This is where I am. So what can I do from here?*
That’s the kind of strength I want women to build 🔥
What’s your AND?
