Sutton Rovers got their league campaign off to a thrilling start with a hard-fought 4–3 win away at Bradley FC.
Rovers started brightly and took an early lead when Liam Stynes pounced on a loose pass from the Bradley back line, calmly slotting home his first goal of the season. Bradley responded quickly, however, as a floated cross was met and guided into the bottom corner to level the game.
It was end-to-end throughout the first half, but Sutton struck next. Jay Turner delivered a superb free kick to the back post, where Mitch Whiley met it and squared across goal for Stynes to tap in his second.
Bradley again fought back to make it 2–2 after Sutton were caught in possession, allowing their midfielder to run through and finish low into the corner.
There was still plenty of drama before the break. Drew Wyer and Billy Bennett both picked up yellow cards, while Bennett saw a top-corner effort brilliantly saved. Pittam then played a long ball through to Alex Carter, whose lob looked to have crossed the line, but it was not given.
Sutton were not to be denied, though. Jordan Turner broke clear down the right and produced an excellent ball across the box for Stynes to complete his first-half hat-trick.

Rovers made changes at the break, with Rocco D’Ambrosio and Kieran Turton introduced for Billy Bennett and Jay Turner. Jordan Turner and Rossi Atkinson had also entered the action late in the first half.
Bradley began the second half strongly, causing problems down the channels. Pittam picked up a yellow card for handball outside the box but made a save from the resulting free kick. Bradley then drew level when their striker found space in the left channel and squared for an unmarked teammate, whose powerful effort found the net despite Pittam getting a hand to it.
Sutton brought on further reinforcements and pushed for a winner. Jordan Turner was played through one-on-one before being brought down by the defender, earning Rovers a penalty. Stynes stepped up looking for his fourth, but the Bradley keeper guessed correctly to keep the scores level.
The keeper was called into action again shortly after, producing a superb save to tip Billy Bennett’s effort onto the post. At the other end, Bradley nearly snatched it when their striker went through one-on-one, but Pittam closed the angle brilliantly to make a crucial save.
Then, with four minutes remaining, came the winning moment. A long ball was flicked on by Drew Wyer into the path of Jordan Turner, who smashed an unstoppable half-volley into the top corner to seal all three points for Sutton Rovers.
