A frustrating night on the road for Maiden City, who travelled to Carrick following back-to-back wins in recent cup games. City got off to a flying start, with Bradley opening the scoring after just eight minutes. The home side responded well and found an equaliser in the 15th minute to make it 1-1.
The teams headed into the break on level terms but Carrick seemed to come out with a new lease of life and struck twice in quick succession to take a 3-1 lead. Bradley stepped up once again in the 57th minute, pulling a goal back to give the visitors renewed hope at 3-2.
City continued to push forward and apply pressure but struggled to find their rhythm in what became an increasingly physical contest. There was some excellent link-up play on display, and the visitors battled hard throughout, but they were unable to find the equaliser.
Both sides continued to compete fiercely, but Carrick held the edge in the closing stages. Two softly conceded goals allowed the home side to pull away and secure the victory, with the match finishing 5-2 in Carrickโs favour.
