As a parent, a car journey game that I have played many times in the car with my children is spot the motorbike… let’s see how many bikes we can spot on our journey. Get them to start looking for bikes while young so it becomes a habit for when they are older.

🏍️ Solid white lines aren't optional.

This motorcyclist certainly seemed to think they were.

After overtaking an off-duty officer who was on their way to work, the rider then went on to overtake three more vehicles over solid white lines, including on the approach to a right-hand bend. ⚠️

Road markings are there for a reason. Crossing solid white lines to overtake can significantly increase the risk of a serious collision.

📹 Fortunately, this incident was captured on video.

The registered keeper will now receive a Section 172 notice requiring them to identify the rider. Once identified, the rider will be prosecuted.

This isn’t an Ad but some advice from a qualified instructor…

As I get asked all the time is there anything you would recommend to help with the theory test, this is my response every-time…

Download Driving Test Success app, ALL of my students and anyone that I have advised this have all said how good it was and how easy it was to use.

The theory test isn’t as easy as people think ! You have to learn and revise. This app just makes the process of learning easier.

🚨 Section 59 powers have changed – and so has the way police can deal with anti-social driving. 🚨

If you're using a vehicle in a way that causes alarm, distress or annoyance to others, you could now lose it immediately.

Previously, drivers would usually receive a warning before their vehicle could be seized under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002. That requirement has now been removed.

This means officers can seize a vehicle on the first occasion if they reasonably believe it is being driven:
🚗 Carelessly or inconsiderately,
and
🏍️ Illegally off-road, and the manner of driving is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to the public.

Examples include:
🔹 Dangerous driving at car meets
🔹 Wheel spins, burnouts and drifting
🔹 Revving engines in residential areas
🔹 Riding off-road bikes or quad bikes where they're not permitted
🔹 Driving that intimidates or puts others at risk

These changes give police the ability to take swift action against those who choose to use their vehicles irresponsibly, helping to keep our communities safer and reduce anti-social behaviour.

Think before you drive. Anti-social driving could now cost you your vehicle.

The police's new powers, under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002, were put to good use by one of our Specials in Leatherhead yesterday who seized this vehicle due to the drivers prolific poor driving, which included:

⚠️ Swerving in the road
🫳🏼 Making obscene hand gestures towards other road users
💥 Mounting the kerb

The driver was reported for driving without due care and attention.

With warmer weather, longer days and busier roads, summer is a great time to enjoy a day out, but it's also a time to take extra care behind the wheel.

☀️ Driving safely this summer starts before you set off
✅ Check your tyres, lights and fluid levels
✅ Plan your journey and allow extra time for traffic
✅ Stay hydrated and take regular breaks on longer trips
✅ Watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians enjoying the sunshine
✅ Never use your phone while driving
✅ Always wear your seatbelt and ensure children are properly secured

Remember, hot weather can lead to tiredness and reduced concentration. If you feel fatigued, stop and take a break.

Let's all play our part in keeping our roads safe so everyone can enjoy the summer and get home safely.
