The Importance of Being Consentual: A Trivial Guide for Serious People

Just published this on my blog....

The Wheel of Consent? How terribly obvious to think it's merely about profound intimacy or increased pleasure. So middle-class.
And clear agreements where everyone wins? How dreadfully practical.

No, my darlings, these conventional benefits — while useful for beginners — are the least fashionable aspects of consent.
There's a far more delicious layer beneath...

Each quadrant cultivates something profound:

SERVE teaches us GENEROSITY — giving only what we're willing to with a whole heart.

TAKE teaches us INTEGRITY — taking action for ourselves, but only within what others willingly give.

ALLOW teaches us SURRENDER — creating safety within ourselves rather than demanding it from others.

ACCEPT teaches us GRATITUDE — receiving a gift so cleanly it melts your heart.

For too long I've been focused on the practical (yes, the practical is valuable) but it feels important to come back to the soulful.
That's where the true magic lives.

Something hit me whilst Circling yesterday...

I noticed how quickly the reflex comes - that instant urge to fix the moment someone shares their discomfort.

Yes, we mean well. And yes, it comes from care.

But what if the most profound gift we could give each other is the space to simply be?

That's what we create in Circling.

No advice-giving.
No problem-solving.
No desperate attempts to make it better.

Instead? Pure presence. Raw authenticity. The kind of attention that says "I see you, and you're exactly enough as you are."

It feels like permission to breathe.

London friends, I'm hosting Circling in the Skydome tonight in Deptford.

There'a a lovely group coming together for it.

Circling is about dropping into a connection with yourself and others that's so present that it transforms us. It's free from an end goal or need to change anything.

I'm hosting a seminar called the Wisdom of Wanting for the Soul of Men conference on Sunday.

Desires get a bad reputation and are inherently vulnerable.

Yet, when we take the time to notice them and separate that from the need to fulfil them, they are a great source of energy that can move us forward in our lives and bring clarity and joy to relationships.

I'm offering this seminar for women too under the name Desire Awakening.

• Taking on emotions, anxieties or problems that aren't ours
• Feeling responsible for the emotions of others
• Maintaining relationships or jobs by squashing our authenticity

Looking forward to leading Circling in the Skydome tomorrow all day!

Been putting time into articulating exactly what I do and this feels pretty close:

“Welcoming people into transformative shared experiences that deepen relationships and inspire feelings of profound aliveness and connection.”

I’m proud of how these experiences have supported so many to be more authentic and communicate more powerfully in their relations.

I want to share this picture of leaping as a way to invite you to Being Real: Intro to Authentic Communication tomorrow night.

I notice it feels a bit narcissistic to post another picture of myself, and I wonder if anyone is secretly judging me about that. Saying that I feel more 'in'.

It takes a leap to express ourselves authentically, to break out of old patterns.

As it becomes harder to discern what is real and what's not, my sense is that we will discover and value the parts of our humanity that can never be 'duplicated' by machines.

We will re-discover what is sacred about our nature and cherish it like never before.
