Jason Arday has simply & tragically been hounded to his death.

His race became a lightning rod to his critics, who were unable & unwilling to accept that a young black man could be appointed as a Professor at the University of Cambridge.

Even when he resigned, it still wasn't enough for his critics. They kept digging because they were determined to prove that he hadn't been appointed on merit & he had been dishonest.

He was caught up in the West's current turbo charged crusade against "wokism," which some euphemistically label as "culture wars."

In reality this is a fierce pushback by the right which was unleashed in response to the global prominence that Black Lives Matter (BLM) reached following George Floyd's murder.

That pushback seeks to delegitimise DEI policies through locating them as targeted against the white majority.

That's the context of Jason's death. They smelt blood & went for it. They were offended.

The rage was clear. To them, he simply didn't belong there. He was "desecrating" their "heritage."

They have now gotten their wish! It all got too much for him! At least now he has rested!

RIP Jason Arday

Jason Arday, the former Cambridge University professor is found dead.
Another thoroughly decent person hounded to their death by the British media. University of Cambridge should safeguard their staff members better, especially those from vulnerable backgrounds whenever there’s a media circus. Who knows how different this could’ve been if Arday was uplifted and defended when the onslaught of racism began.

Brian Madjo
First goal for 17 year old Brian Madjo after surprising move in January. A special moment for new Villa talent.

This Madjo boy is so good that Aston Villa took FIFA to court and won the case this month, just to get him to play for them. The case is complex and not complex at the same time

They signed him in January from Metz but could not register him even for their youth teams due to some FIFA rules. Then, they took FIFA to court.

Firstly, he was born in London, but his parents moved to Luxembourg when he was very young, I think 2 years old. He's a UK citizen though.

In Luxembourg, he played for their u15s, u16s and even for the Luxembourg National team as he is a citizen there also.

He is currently 17 years old and considered as a minor. According to FIFA's RSTP, international transfer is prohibited for players under 18. There are some exceptions though.

If he is moving within EU countries, its not really international transfer per se, and that's why he was able to move from Racing Union in Luxembourg, to Metz in France. The two countries are under EU.

The problem is that, UK are no longer under EU, hence, it is considered "International Transfer", and he is not 18 yet, he's a minor.

Aston Villa's lawyers pulled out another card, and said he is a British Citizen. FIFA rejected it, then Villa took FIFA to court and beat them.

In fact, Brian Madjo left the Luxembourg National team to represent England u17s from last year. He's not tied to Luxembourg because the 3 games he played for them are friendlies, and that does not count.

Anyways, Villa won the case and he can now play. The boy is very strong, think of Lukaku's kind of strength.

We're all waiting for him to shine this season. Mark the name, BRIAN MADJO.

Jon Ossoff on Trump:
“Each day his allies are fewer and even they no longer deny his corruption. The obscene self-dealing while he plunges the nation deeper into reckless war. While the people pay more for everything and millions lose health coverage while he rakes in billions and builds himself a ballroom and prepares once again to attack our elections”

5:00 PM 🇺🇸 Ossoff🔥: "Threat gone last year. Still you started war this year. We won on day 12. They’re done on day 14. Now 5 months later You are still bombing, people are dying, they still got uranium, and Hormuz is still shut.

Bro, you made Americans look like fools.

7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Damages Historic Colombian Cathedral

A powerful earthquake has damaged the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Manizales, Colombia, while people try and stay out in the open.
Is there a system in place that automatically shuts off power if earthquakes are detected? It would be disastrous if live wires were to come down due to the earthquake, especially with so many people around.

Jason Arday Is Completely Innocent - Interesting Piece by Justin Murphy

Jason Arday is completely innocent. In fact, it's the only theory that makes sense. Liar, fraud, and "con man" just don't fit the data, sociologically or characterologically.

That's why this case feels so big, bigger than any of the academic fraud cases in recent memory.

This is obviously a kind, gentle, loving person—all he is doing is what most people in the world do: he is deploying words in whatever way sincerely feels like it will do good for the world.

Of course, this is a scandal because some of our institutions are supposed to do other kinds of things with words.

At one point in history, anyway, Cambridge was a place where a very specific type of person gathered to do a very specific, extreme, difficult thing with words. That thing ceased being the place's raison d'être over 50 years ago, but heritage brands die hard; so even many of our smartest scholars (who genuinely know and do that special, rare thing) cling to utterly wishful notions about the status quo university (especially the elite ones, which they imagine have been relatively immune, but in fact have deteriorated even more catastrophically given their high baseline).

Listen to his interviews.

This is not the Wolf of Wall Street but the Sweet Summer Child. His psychology is essentially this: If you say certain words that make other people happy, and then they give you applause and money, then it is good to produce words in that way. This is just being a good person. To be accused of doing bad things when you have only ever said good things, just means the accusing people are just bad people.

Now, most people who make it to advanced careers at Cambridge are not altogether more noble than this. But they are far more sophisticated. They too have spent more than a decade producing essentially arbitrary strings of words (not as naively stupid as Arday's but with a similarly socialized and compromised notion of what it means to put words together for an academic career). That weird, rare thing that Newton was doing at Cambridge is as alien to the median "legitimate" scholar at Cambridge, and the best in academia will admit this at the bar.

(Aside: The good ones worth their salt are closer to 99th percentile, essentially, and they keep their mouths shut about politics because politics is for the mediocre academics! Cofnas, who is a good scholar and ethically correct in all of this is probably only ethically correct due to 'moral luck;' if he were happily tenured at a level he's content with, he'd be doing real science and wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole!)

So in my mind, Jason Arday is ethically higher ranked than the modal professor at Cambridge—to be perfectly frank and completely serious. He's an idiot but I genuinely believe there is not a trace of mens rea in this guy.

The only reason there is outrage is because a bumpkin commentariat (including many high-IQ people) still believe that something different is supposed to be happening at a place like Cambridge. Against all reality for decades, there is a widespread, persistent confidence in these legacy heritage brands, which gives them credit they stopped deserving long ago. So this "scandal" is mostly driven by the wildly out-of-date wishfulness of the outraged observers. Anyone who's made it reasonably far up the ladder of academia finds this to be relatively unremarkable (though yes, Arday is an extremely dramatic case study and again Cofnas is in the right to discuss it).

Even Cambridge did nothing exceptionally wrong here! They are just a normal social institution doing what normal institutions do after that rare thing Newton wanted to do can no longer be understood or protected for diverse structural reasons.

Neither the modal administrator nor Jason Arday even understand that once upon a time the University of Cambridge did something truly specific, rare, and uniquely valuable with words. Just listen to them, and take them at face value: They are sincerely convicted that what Newton was doing at Cambridge was ideological fakery to dominate the less educated and non-white populations. What could possibly be wrong with giving Jason Arday the university's highest honors? What could possibly be wrong with saying nice and creative stories that win honors?

People just have no idea how far it's all gone.... Or they have to pretend otherwise, for the sake of representing some respectable pole of the discourse.

Scope of hacks on US. Water supply widens as evidence points to Iran

Trita Parsi - If Iran is behind these cyberattacks on US water systems, the message is clear.

It's a warning: If the US strikes critical infrastructure in Iran, including desalination plants and power grids, Iran will respond in kind through cyberattacks against critical infrastructure in the US.

Essentially, Iran will bring the war to the US itself using cyber.

The strategic mistake of starting - and restarting - this war is only becoming more enormous.
