I almost didn’t share this.

Partly because it was embarrassing.
Partly because I blamed myself.

Two years ago, I paid over £8,000 for what I believed was a genuine business opportunity and magazine feature for my small business.

What followed nearly collapsed my business.

The court has now ordered that company to shut down, and while I still haven’t recovered the money, I’ve learned more than I ever expected about pressure-selling, paid features, fake PR opportunities, and how easily ambition can be manipulated when you’re trying to grow a brand.

Sharing this in the hope it helps another female founder or small business owner trust their instincts sooner than I did.

Real opportunities don’t pressure you into emotional financial decisions.

Somewhere along the way, women were told we had to choose: comfort or confidence, support or style.
