I never thought I’d be THAT girl.
The one who lifts weights.
The one who feels confident in her body.
The one other women look at and think
“I want that.”
Because for years, I was the opposite.
I was insecure and terribly shy!
To make things worse, I was stuck in a cycle of losing weight and then gaining it all back (and more).
Doing plenty of cardio, eating rabbit food, binging on the weekends because I’d be so hungry and then starting over every Monday.
And every time it didn’t work…
I blamed my body, bad genes and my lack of willpower.
Until one moment changed it.
I saw a strong, confident, muscular woman in the gym
And instead of comparing, I thought:
“Thats who I want to become.”
I had no clue what I was doing and at first
I felt bulky, unfeminine and uncomfortable.
At the same time, my marriage was falling apart.
My mental health was at its lowest.
Everything felt like it was slipping away.
But I kept going and showing up every single day.
That decision carried me through divorce, lockdown, and some of the hardest moments of my life.
And it wasn’t perfect.
I lost weight in an unhealthy way.
I struggled with food and I hit a point where I had no strength left to progress.
And that’s when I realised
I needed to educated myself on how to progress. I watched endless YouTube videos, downloaded fitness apps and made friends with other ‘gym’ girls.
And that’s when everything changed.
This isn’t just a physical transformation.
It’s who I became in the process.
And if you’re where I used to be
Stuck, frustrated, lacking confidence and blaming your body
Just know that it’s not your lack of willpower,
You’ve just never been shown the right way.
And once you learn that, everything changes.
