Half Term Workshops completed!

We all had a great time on Monday, with children in the morning session making their own bookmarks, plotting a story and designing a comic strip, writing a letter, 'drawing' a word and getting to know themselves better in a group quick fire 'all about me' activity!

In the afternoon session we focused on a little more challenge as the children have either started secondary or are in the transition phases of year groups 5 and 6, so we were more concentrated and more detailed in our work! Feedback from the children was that their favourite element was learning about screenwriting and having a go at plotting their own short film - we also talked about how they could potentially use this plot to make their film a reality using various free apps and we got really creative as a group working out how to get a giant to splash into a pool of water on film! I also introduced 'genre' and other activities to develop writing and creativity including having a go at writing some 'flash' fiction using prompts provided.

Needless to say everyone was very tired at the end of the sessions from all that brain work!

If your child is attending one of my workshops tomorrow you might be wondering what they'll be doing ... here's a little insight into what we'll be getting up to!

Each child will receive a workbook (designed by me), a notebook, a blank bookmark and various other bits and pieces to bring home.

The morning workshop (years 3 to 6) will design their own bookmark (coloured pens and stickers available for this), then we'll write all about ourselves, write and design a comic strip type story, learn about reimagining a story they already know, learn the art of letter writing and generally having lots of fun!

The afternoon workshop (year groups 5 to 8 ), is more in-depth and designed to be more challenging - they will learn about different genres of writing and then try some out themselves, they'll also get to design a screenplay/script and draft out their own short film and will have a go at writing their own memoir. There is a workbook designed by me to work through together with plenty of activities to take home and try out by themselves.

All children will receive a Certificate at the end for taking part.

There is ample parking behind Leigh on Sea Community centre (use pay machines in car park), an on-site cafe and toilets on the ground floor where parents are welcome to grab a coffee.

Children will need to bring their own drink/water bottle! Snacks will be provided. If there are any allergies please do let me know!

Consent forms need to be sent via email or completed at drop off and you will be asked to sign your child in and out on the day as well as confirming who the person collecting will be.

I look forward to meeting you and your children and having a great time!

Well, sort of ......

This is a different type of book, one that involves not only my creativity but YOURS!

Journaling and Writing can be such a transformative mode of gaining more self-awareness and dealing with our emotions so I've designed a workbook full of exercises and prompts that are perfect if you'd like to start your Journaling and Writing journey.
