SRO Motorsports Group - The architect of modern GT Racing

With nearly three decades’ experience at the forefront of a continuously evolving industry, SRO Motorsports Group is the established global leader in GT racing. A busy 2021 season will see events staged under the SRO banner on five continents, highlighted by the prestigious Total 24 Hours of Spa. The company's expanding portfolio of series

includes Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS categories in Europe, America, Asia and Australia. Each retains its unique identity, while also allowing competing brands to dispute a global manufacturers’ title through their continental representatives. What’s more, a groundbreaking new initiative for 2021 will see virtual racing come together with the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup, where a series of e-sports contests will count towards the real championship. Staged since 2016, the flagship Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli sees world-leading manufacturers compete through their local teams at marquee events across the globe. Considerable emphasis is placed on amateur competitors, too, with the GT Sports Club concept combining a relaxed environment with highly professional standards for drivers using GT2 and GT3 machinery. SRO also works with the FIA to organise and promote the FIA Motorsport Games, a multi-disciplinary event in which drivers compete in the colours of their national flag. A range of international and domestic series catering for GT2, GT3, GT4 and touring car machinery also form part of an extensive on-track programme, while the burgeoning sim racing scene has taken on considerable importance through the SRO E-Sport GT Series. In addition to promotion and organisation, the company operates the SRO Race Centre by MMC service facility at Circuit Paul Ricard, and provides the ultimate driving opportunities at world-renowned venues through Curbstone Track Events. Combining a passion for performance with industry-leading experience, SRO continues to play a key role in shaping the future of global GT racing. SRO Motorsports Group is chaired by company founder and CEO Stephane Ratel and has offices in London, Paris, Liège and Hong Kong. It’s dedicated team of full-time and freelance staff work with the support of numerous national sporting authorities and sanctioning bodies to offer teams, drivers and manufacturers the world’s best professional, Pro/Am and amateur GT racing platforms.

Patrick Van Glabeke: 1959 - 2026 | SRO Motorsports Group and Curbstone Events are saddened to share the news of Patrick Van Glabeke’s passing.

Patrick was an accomplished amateur racing driver who contested several SRO-run series and achieved a class podium at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2017.

His personal relationship with SRO runs much deeper, however. In 2008 Patrick established Curbstone Events, which - under the subsequent joint management of SRO, the RACB and Patrick - has grown to become Europe’s premier organiser of track day and automotive lifestyle experiences.

His vision and passion will remain cornerstones of the business’ current and future success.

A book of condolence will be available during the next event at Spa-Francorchamps for friends of Curbstone and Patrick who wish to leave a message, share a memory or pay tribute to him.

The thoughts of SRO and Curbstone are with Patrick’s family, loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Marc van der Straten: 1948 - 2026 | SRO Motorsports Group is shocked and saddened to learn of Marc van der Straten’s passing at the age of 78.

A true racer until the very end, the cars that bore his name – and modern-day iconic livery – are indelibly linked with GT racing’s growth over the past two decades.

His passion for the sport was also undeniable. What began with a Gillet Vertigo Belcar entry eventually morphed into FIA GT1 World Championship success with Ford before the Marc VDS BMW partnership delivered a Blancpain GT Series title and 24 Hours of Spa victory for the Z4 GT3.

A lengthy sportscar hiatus followed, albeit one spent racing – and winning – at the pinnacle of two-wheeled competition, before the Marc VDS Racing name and colours returned to the GT3 arena in 2024.

Ever competitive, a Boutsen VDS Porsche finished eighth overall at the world’s biggest GT race just seven days ago.

All those at SRO extend their sincere and heartfelt condolences to Marc’s family and members of the Boutsen VDS team at this sad time. His legacy will not be forgotten.

SRO GT Academy 2026 is beginning to take shape as the first season of our global young driver programme approaches half-distance.

The 3x GT World and British GT winners will join forces at the 24 Hours of Spa next year, the top GT2 Europe Silver-graded driver receives a GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup seat in a Mercedes-AMG GT3, and the pick of FFSA GT’s youngsters receives financial support with SRO’s backing.

Back to the future: Audi's Nuvolari - the fastest and most powerful production car in the manufacturer's history - was unveiled at Cap d’Antibes in France yesterday.

It is named after Tazio Nuvolari, one of the most prominent figures in motorsport history who raced for Auto Union in the 1930s.

SRO's Stéphane Ratel (pictured here with Audi Special Projects Management’s Chris Reinke) was amongst the guests attending the car's world premiere ahead of this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.

Meaningful environmental progress is driven by the choices we all make each day. It’s a responsibility that SRO and its championships take very seriously.

Indeed, this philosophy is now a cornerstone of our global operations. A commitment to climate neutrality, reducing single-use plastics at events, and supporting environmental projects all over the world demonstrates how targeted initiatives can contribute to broader sustainability goals and foster greater environmental awareness among our stakeholders.

This year, the theme of World Environment Day is Climate Action ( ). Learn more about the steps SRO has taken to reduce its carbon footprint at sro-motorsports.com/sustainability/environmental.

History in the making: the inaugural GT3 race took place 20 years ago TODAY at Silverstone where Hector Lester, Allan Simonsen and JMB Racing's Ferrari 430 became the class' first-ever winners. Andrea Ceccato and Stefano Livio (Racing Box Dodge Viper) denied the same combination a clean sweep on Sunday.

Eight manufacturers and 44 entries contested the FIA GT3 European Championship season opener, which acted as chief support to another SRO-run series: the FIA GT Championship.
