Ig/YouTube: .tactics It was developed in 2010 and its premise is for self-preservation and fluidity of motion. It involves various disciplines and philosophies that create a harmony with the pupil. We make sure that the pupil himself/herself is the

weapon but we incorporate tools like bare hand fluid motions, kicks, arnis sticks, knives, short impact weapons, and other tools to help improve one’s movement. Fluid Tactics also incorporates kickboxing, boxing, and Jeet Kune Do concepts, and physical conditioning to help facilitate growth and progress. We also involve human psychology and alternative perceptions to create scenarios for the pupil. We like to emphasize the importance of knowing and understanding the yin and the yang of the martial arts. Meaning, they must understand the violence of the art of self-preservation and at the same time understand that they must be able to control their emotions and actions when it comes to physical or psychological stress. I give emphasis on the flow of movement and the meditation and clarity it gives its pupils; Knowing that they could very well protect themselves but also be able to control the emotions that could turn into aggression and anger. Each scenario can give either a fight or a flight response to the person. This is where the clarity and focus of Fluidity comes to play. The student must be able to respond to any and all forms of threat pertaining to his or her personal space or for the protection of their loved ones. Therefore, Fluid Tactics not only trains the physical aspect of the marital arts. It is an embodiment of what true martial artists should be. There will always be threats that will come in. And it always comes unexpectedly. Fluid Tactics helps students understand that the initial response is sometimes the difference between life and death. We show students how to respect others by knowing themselves through their movement.

Growth is in discomfort.
Keeping tools sharpened gives us something to use when we are in those moments.

Eskrima is a holistic practice that encompasses fighting with tools, self protection, sport, art, and general wellbeing. It isn’t just one thing. Being able to contextualise the practice allows for more facets of the art to come out.

If you want to learn more about yourself and your capabilities with weapons handling, movement, understanding violence, and a nervous system upgrade, you should try this art out.

The stick is just a tool that’s used, in part, to install the skill and level your game up.
If you’re already an existing mover, martial artist, or anyone that’s curious about weapons, this will enhance everything you already know and do.

Book your private sessions or send me a message for inquiries.

Resistance is what we’re developing when we train within chaos.

Learning how to have presence of mind while in an uncertain moment is a vital component when training self protection. Not only does this develop the ability to move when it is necessary, it is also a strong component to learn deeply about ourselves when stress is constant.

It is very easy to fall into autopilot when we are being attacked and when the chaos of life hits us. Whether in a fight or in our lives, a lot of the time we are not fully aware of why we do what we do due to an immense amount of pressure or trauma that we’ve lived through.

Training our nervous system under a constant amount of pressure while being pushed to be present opens up new avenues for us to explore what we’re capable of. It is somatic movement in practice with a non cooperative training partner. It is holistic in nature, which means we develop stronger defences against attackers while also learning about our internal struggles/triggers and wounding that can be addressed through being aware while it happens without flinching or running from it or avoiding the hard parts of ourselves.

Levelling up in fighting doesn’t just stay in the physical realm. A lot of the time we fight ourselves whether we know it or not. Training with me means we’re able to develop different layers of ourselves.

Fill the gaps. Stay fluid.

Martial arts has helped me process things that have broken me so many times over.
Learning lessons that i didn’t think i needed till i went through them. I guess this is what awareness is. The ability to do the things we say we know about. Developing the wisdom to move differently in a world there being disconnected the our souls seem to be a part of the agenda, forcing us to be disconnected to ourselves and to those around us.

I believe that martial arts isn’t supposed to just be about learning to fight and to be violent. To heal the things that have been plaguing most people is to learn how to feel deeply and attune our instincts to something that can live through the destruction we’ve been subjected to for a very long time.

Two truths are possible. We have to learn to become dangerous toward those that mean us harm and we also need to learn how to raise these frequencies that have been distorted for far too long.

If we can’t do better but expect everyone else to be while still talking about it, that makes us incredibly hypocritical. We have to do better.

Too much intellectualisation and perfection seeking does more damage than imperfect application and refinement.

“Don’t think!” This is something i often yell in training.
In the development of Fluid Tactics, a very specific version of Balintawak has become a core component of how i teach. That means i force students to become aware of their instincts and the natural ability to feel rather than always thinking or assuming or predicting movement.

We are very energetic beings capable of having abilities that go beyond the physical. Training to fight and to protect our space needs that ability. There have been too many practices that lose their innate spirit because of watering things down for commodification and numbers.

The way i teach my students involves connecting to their higher selves as pressure arises and random attacks occur. The defence i install is not due to the amount of technique i can have them memorize, but the ability to sense or sniff the opponents next attack while they defend and counter their space.

This has so much more application outside of fighting and martial arts. I think we have become a society obsessed with certificates more than the deeper understanding of a practice without having to focus on the trivial stuff.

This version of Filipino martial arts has the capability to awaken something in each person due to the nature of training.
If you have the curiosity to understand yourself deeper while installing a brutally effective skillset, come and train. The resonance that you’ll feel is all the evidence you’ll need.

Not all Balintawak is created equal.
