🥋 3 CLUBS. 3 DOJOS. 3 JOINT JUDO SESSIONS.

Northbrook JC, Subarashi JC and Commando Temple JC are joining forces for three open training sessions — and you don’t need to belong to any of the three clubs to come along.

💷 £5 donation per visiting judoka

The idea is simple: different clubs, different coaches, different training partners — one shared love of judo.

And hopefully this is just the start — we’d love to get more clubs involved in future joint sessions.

Over the summer, we’ve been working alongside Sidcup Rugby Club, bringing a bit of judo onto the rugby pitch.

The aim wasn’t to turn rugby players into judoka — it was to take practical judo skills such as balance, movement, falling safely, body control and working under pressure, and help their younger players transfer those skills directly into their rugby.

Different sports, but plenty of crossover.

It’s been great seeing the players start to recognise how the skills they’ve been learning on the judo mat can help with confidence, contact and movement on the rugby field.

A brilliant bit of collaboration between two sports that have more in common than you might think.

Northbrook Judo Club swapped the tatami for white water! 🌊🥋

What a brilliant day at Lee Valley White Water Centre for our club whitewater rafting trip.

Plenty of laughs, a few big splashes, some questionable attempts at staying in the raft… and a lot of very wet judoka! 😂

It was great seeing everyone having fun together away from the dojo. Days like this are about much more than judo — building friendships, confidence and some cracking memories along the way.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and made the day such a good one.

Same club. Different kind of ukemi. 🌊😂

Teams aren’t simply created—they’re forged through loyalty, respect and the determination to stand beside one another, whatever the challenge.

Today, we proudly honour our Muddy Knights: teammates who tackled every obstacle, encouraged each other through the mud and came together for a cause far bigger than any finish line.

One team. One purpose. Plenty of mud.

Brilliant teamwork, determination and plenty of mud—all for a fantastic cause that is particularly close to my own heart.

Well done to everyone who ran, supported, volunteered and helped raise vital funds. You should all be incredibly proud. 💚

It’s not just the kids who get to have fun on the mat.

Sometimes a simple game — jumping over someone with as much flair as you can and landing safely onto a crash mat — does far more than just get a few laughs.

It builds confidence.

And in judo, confidence in being thrown matters. The less you fear the fall, the more freely you can move, attack, and commit to your own throws.

Because good throwing starts with trusting that you can land safely.

Great work from Sensei Kams building confidence, movement, and a fair bit of style into the session.

A brilliant day at Bickley Primary’s Summer Fete on Sunday.

Sensei Kams and Minè led some fantastic judo taster sessions, giving children and families the chance to see what Northbrook Judo Club is all about.

Lots of energy, plenty of smiles, and hopefully a few new judoka taking their first steps onto the mat.

Judo is a brilliant way for children to build confidence, coordination, discipline and resilience, all while learning in a safe, structured and supportive environment.

A big thank you to everyone who came along, joined in, watched, asked questions or helped make the day such a success.

Great judo, brilliant sportsmanship, amazing volunteers and families who somehow survived competing in the heat!

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making today such a success. It takes a whole team behind the scenes to create days like these—and we’re lucky to have the best.

🎥 A little trip down memory lane…

Some of our former Northbrook Judoka in action, demonstrating the skill, determination, and fighting spirit that helped build the club’s reputation over the years.

There was a time when hearing “Northbrook” on the draw sheet made people sit up and take notice. Not through arrogance, but through consistent hard work, strong coaching, and producing competitors who could perform when it mattered.

Many of these players have long since moved on, but their achievements remain part of the club’s history and continue to inspire the next generation of Northbrook Knights. 💪🥋
