On the week that West Byfleet found out that they have (hopefully) saved their Recreation Ground, today we have donated the last tiny bit of our sports equipment to the junior school for the kids to use and enjoy.

We donated the rest before we left last year.

The parents and community of West Byfleet are truly an inspiration and having had a stake in children’s active development for 8 years+ there, we want to thank you so much for valuing your community spaces and fighting for your children’s right to play, activity, and development. πŸ’ͺ🏼

Not all heroes wear capes... You’re the best! 😊

Our last ever holiday camp finished today at West Byfleet.

Over the years, many kids have come to our camps as bubbas who are now in their teens and beyond!

Once again, THANK YOU ALL for these past 8 years. The last few weeks of kindness from parents and children has been so overwhelming! People from all over coming back to see us for a hug and a handshake!

Incredible. Unbelievable! Thank you!

We may be at the school in a private capacity from September, but as of today our chapter of sports provision in all its forms is now over at the school.

All the best to you all as individuals and as a community. It's been a real pleasure... ❀️

And so with that we bid farewell to West Byfleet Junior School after a very successful 8 year association.

What memories we'll take away from that special place and we have been totally knocked over by the level of support we have been shown by the children and parents. Simply incredible. Thank you!

We leave a school that undoubtedly could not be in better shape to take sports into the future:

- Sport considered as one of the jewels in the crown at the school
- Sport highly valued by all children
- Sport viewed by Ofsted as one of the schools strengths
- Over 60% of children (repeat over 60%!), attending at least 1 extra curricular sports club a week with many doing 2 or more. A school could be considered for a hugely rare Gold Kitemark with this number and many fail because they cannot. An impossibly high number!
- A Silver Kitemark, one of the few in Surrey to have one
- A wide and diverse mix of sports clubs to attend
- High participation rates of girls (45%) with many finding pathways into sports teams outside of school and representing at district level
- The previous point being exactly the same with boys but that's normal
- High participation rates among SEN children and a feeling of inclusion in sport
- A very well received Sports Day and fun parent events
- Superb feedback to reports as given out by us... A no copy and paste policy with over 55,000 words of original comments for each child
- An unprecedented year of sporting success (as characterised in the school newsletter) at County and District Level for both boys and girls teams across every level of the school
- No lower than a 4th place finish in any competition and wins in over 6 competitions
- Strong and well liked PE lessons which worked to engage everyone from those most able to those least with high quality sports coaching
- A broad and varied PE curriculum
- Proof that you can have sport as inclusive for all aswell as elite success in competitions
- Help to over 15 teenagers to do work experience, volunteering, and Duke of Edinburgh awards, most ex WBJS
- Sports mad kids throughout the school

All achieved under Inclusive's stewardship of the sporting provision at the school over the years. That is some legacy to be able to pass on and some legacy to be able to inherit. Many schools would only dream of having such an all encompassing collection of achievements for sports provision at their school.

So we wish the new team every success in continuing to provide the school with the level of sports that it has become accustomed to, and deserve. The kids are great and all start from the point where their association with sport is hugely positive and we hope that this can continue and that they give the new providers a chance to prove their worth.

It has been a privilege and a honour to serve West Byfleet Junior School in it sporting endeavours, we have tried our very best consistently year in year out, and we have made so many friends amongst the school leadership, the staff, the parents and we absolutely adore the kids!

We have enjoyed getting to know you all with humour, smiles and personality, and thank you all for your lovely texts, emails, comments, cards, and presents, we are overwhelmed!

And at last, we would like to wish you and the school all the very best and warmest wishes for your futures. You're the best, we will miss you and you will always have a friend in us!!

VIDEO: Fun challenge to see if your child can delay gratification (studies show it is an indicator of future sucess!)...

Put a marshmellow/sweet on a plate, tell them to stay in the room with it, and promise another one in 15mins providing they do not eat the first one before then!

In this short talk from TED U, Joachim de Posada shares a landmark experiment on delayed gratification -- and how it can predict future success. With priceless video of kids trying their hardest not to eat the marshmallow.
