KEEP PLAY AFFORDABLE - SIGN OUR PETITION

This summer, hundreds playcentres across the UK supported the *Great British Summer Savings scheme* which via a 15% VAT reduction enabled indoor playcentres to offer discounts and special deals to help families enjoy affordable days out.

But keeping play affordable shouldn’t just be a summer initiative.

That’s why the Association of Indoor Play is campaigning for 0% VAT on indoor play admissions.

Indoor play gives children safe, year-round spaces to be active, socialise and develop – and we believe every family should be able to access it.

Reducing VAT from 20% to 0% on children’s play would help keep prices affordable, support families and encourage more children to get active.

**Help us make affordable play a permanent priority.**

Thinking of opening an indoor play centre? Or looking to grow your existing business?

One of the biggest challenges in our industry is knowing what “good” looks like. Are your admission prices competitive? How does your food & beverage spend compare? Are your staff salaries in line with the rest of the sector?

Since 2022, the Association of Indoor Play has been producing the UK’s only independent benchmarking reports dedicated exclusively to the indoor play industry.

Our reports include:
📊 State of the Industry Survey
🍔 Food & Beverage Benchmarking Survey
👥 Employee Salary Survey (coming soon)

Whether you’re writing a business plan, seeking investment, planning your pricing strategy or simply looking to improve performance, these reports provide real industry data to help you make informed decisions—not guesswork.

AIP Operator Members receive significant discounts, and if you took part in one of the surveys, your corresponding report is completely FREE as our thank you for contributing to the industry’s knowledge.

Need something more specific? We also produce bespoke industry reports and presentations for operators, investors and businesses entering the sector.

The results will give a clearer picture of staffing, pay, recruitment and employment trends across the industry, helping operators benchmark their own businesses and better understand the current landscape and a year on year benchmark. The final comprehensive report will be shared with survey participants only and will be for sale to anyone not completing the survey.

Last week, one of our members, Globetrotters Soft Play, was invited to No. 11 Downing Street to discuss the impact of VAT on small businesses and the Government's Great British Summer scheme with MP Daniel Francis.

This is exactly why the Association of Indoor Play continues to campaign for 0% VAT on children's play.

Our members pay 20% VAT on admissions, parties, food and drink, while also facing rising business rates, increased employer National Insurance costs, higher wages and soaring energy bills. These mounting pressures make it harder for independent indoor play operators to keep play affordable for families.

We are incredibly proud that operators like Globetrotters are helping to ensure our industry's voice is heard at the highest levels of Government. Every conversation brings us one step closer to recognising children's play for what it is – an essential investment in children's health, wellbeing and development, not a luxury.

If you haven't already, please support our 0% VAT for Children's Play campaign. By zero'ing VAT on children's play admissions, we can help make indoor play more accessible for families while giving small businesses the opportunity to invest, grow and continue serving their local communities.

Thank you to Globetrotters Soft Play for flying the flag for our sector and to every operator, parent and supporter who continues to back this campaign.

Together, we can make children's play more affordable for everyone.
