✨ Make sure there's a reason for people to subscribe such as extra content, tips, personal thoughts etc and consider offering a lead magnet to entice people to give their details. ⁠⠀

😇 Consider the experience you'd like them to have when signing up and make it happen with your email tool. Automated email sequences, tagging subscribers based on feedback/clicks is a great place to start. ⁠⠀

❓ It's important to be clear on why you're doing an interview. Frame your questions in a way that brings out the answers you're looking for. ⁠⠀

🌟 It's your job as the host to help them shine. Keep control of the conversation and guide it in the direction you'd like it to go. Don't be afraid to move on if it's going off-topic, but equally let them finish what they're saying once you've asked a question.⁠⠀

📚 Research. Put in the work. It'll help your show stand out from the others and your fans will thank you for it. Minimise the risk of comments like 'I wish you'd asked him this...' due to lack of up-front work.⁠⠀

📛 A show name, logo and music, make up some of the things you need to consider early on. Plenty more on that list, but that should get you off the mark.⁠⠀

💸 Don't spend loads of equipment, there's no need. $150 all in should get you some excellent recording kit. ⁠⠀

🤩 Consider having a show intro and an episode intro to give people context of what you're about.⁠⠀

🎙️ Record your intro (and outro) separately to your main episode recording. No need to do them together and allows you to control as much as possible. If the intro sounds good, people will be much for forgiving of the main episode.⁠⠀

🗣️ Speak directly to your audience, 1:1. As if you're speaking to a friend. Make your show as warm and human as possible.⁠⠀

😲 Just because your microphone cost $500, it doesn't mean you're guaranteed decent audio. Invest time into learning how to use your existing microphone, before deciding you need a new one.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
⁠⠀
👊 Have your mouth about a fist away from the microphone. Test it out and see the difference it makes. People love how intimate podcasts are, so take advance of this.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🍾 Some pops are great, but not when it comes to microphones. Get a pop filter to reduce those pesky 'p's and 'b's that can ruin audio.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
⁠⠀
🎙️ Everyones got their favourite microphone and so do we. Not for everyone and there's certainly better ones out there for more $$$. Our choice for the first time podcaster using a laptop. ⁠⠀

1️⃣ Auto-Gate. Gets rid of mouth sounds and heavy breaths.⁠⠀

2️⃣ Noise Reduction. Remove background noise, especially constant sounds. ⁠⠀

3️⃣ De-Reverb. Echoey recording? Try this and have a play around. Shout out to for this.⁠⠀

4️⃣ Volume Leveling. Make everyones volume similar. Careful of distortion in unwanted places. ⁠⠀
