It’s been five days and I’m still processing Saturday at the BCCMA National Forms Competition. I’m over the moon winning three gold medals!!! Along with my last nationals win, that makes me a four-time national gold medalist.
After nearly 3 years of competing I’m in a much better place now - heart, head, and life - compared to the difficult time I had previously.
Even with success, you have to keep improving and take ownership of your training. I’m blessed not just with the three golds, but also my Grade 2 Judge certificate, and an honorary certificate from Nigel, Tracy, and Dave - one of the greatest honors in my 17 years of martial arts.
I couldn’t have done this without my family, friends, my instructor, Nigel and Tracy at Kixx, my Therapist Ryan, my students, and especially my girlfriend Ella whom with her support made all the difference count.
I’m proud of my performances and more hopeful for the future than I’ve ever been
In my life. I didn’t succeed last time I competed, but that was never a reason to stop It’s a reason to improve. You learn more from losing than winning.
Winning is the achievement, but the training taught me how to truly prepare for competitions in general.
Killoku is Back in the game and staying for good this time!👊🏼🔥
next forms competition will be in QuanZhou, China. I’m so ready to compete in China again.
Lastly, I dedicate this win to my late dog, Finn. This is for you, buddy. I miss you every day. 🙏🏻
