*Pregnancy Yoga classes starting next week - 7th February*

I will be beginning Pregnancy Yoga classes both online and in-person (in Mortlake, London) from Monday 7th February. If you, or anyone you know, if pregnancy and might be interested in coming along, please do get in touch.

Online:

In-Person:
- Thursdays 12:30pm - 1:45pm at the YogaHub studio on Sheen Lane (SW14 8LP)

These classes will incorporate gentle, safe movements, breathing techniques that can be carried through into the birth, a period of relaxation, and of course the space to give yourself the care and attention that you need both during pregnancy and beyond.

A time to connect into yourself & with your baby.
A time to share what’s happening & how you feel.
A time to move and get yourself comfy in your changing body.

Beginner's Workshop Series - Starting again Wednesday 12th January

From Wednesday 12th January, I will be re-starting my Beginner's Workshop Series at Barn Elms Sports Centre, 6-7pm. This is for everyone from beginners to those who would like to revisit a few fundamental poses in more detail.

In these sessions, we will spend the first part of the class out of flow, but simply going through a series of poses, really breaking them down, and giving me the chance to have a look at you in the shapes and offer guidance as to how to feel them land more strongly in your body.

We will then spend the second part of the class in a shorter flow sequence, in which we move through the poses which we have just consolidated (along with a few others potentially), in rhythm (much like a shorter version of the beginner’s flow). As we go along, I will also introduce some of the key ideas of yoga beyond the poses, hopefully giving you a good introduction to the practice!

If you let me know in advance of the class any particular poses you would like to work on, then I can see if I can include them in the week(s) that you would like to attend, ensure that you really do get the most benefit out of the session.

These workshop classes will run on Wednesday evenings, 6-7pm at Barn Elms Sports Centre, Barnes (SW13 0DG). If you are interested, but this time does not work for you, please let me know, and I will see what I can do.

The cost of these classes will be the same as my Beginner’s Flow (£15 for 1, or you can use them as part of a block if you buy 5 classes for £60).

You can book through the website here, or by emailing [email protected].

Introducing Online Yin Yoga Classes in January 2022!

These have been a success over the last few months, and I am pleased to be continuing the classes into the New Year.

A bit about Yin Yoga...
Yin Yoga is a deeply relaxing practice in which we work on letting go of tension in muscles, and softening the body into gentle, deep stretches. Rather than working muscles, Yin Yoga strengthens and mobilises joints and bone tissue. We use props in order to hold our bodies in the shapes, and every pose can be adapted to fit all bodies of all mobility. It is a wonderful complement to a more dynamic, strong yoga practice (in which muscles are strengthened), as here the focus is elsewhere - the muscles can rest and recover, and flexibility, mobility and suppleness can be built in the joints. Unlike in a dynamic yoga practice, in Yin Yoga poses are held gently for a few minutes, rather than a few breaths.

As with most yoga practice, Yin yoga is also a deeply calming practice for the mind. With a focus on breath, and an emphasis on tuning into all of the sensations in the body moment by moment, becoming present to the here and now, Yin Yoga is a wonderful release from the stresses and busy-ness of daily life. The perfect opportunity just to slow down, to check-in with yourself, and to let go, even if just for the hour, of whatever else might be happening at that time.

The poses are simple and accessible to all.

Please do consider giving it a go in the New Year! It is a wonderful compliment to a more dynamic Power, Vinyasa or Beginner's Flow Practice. :)

FREE Online Yoga Nidra Class - Tuesday 19th October, 7:45 - 8:15pm

Yoga Nidra (or 'Yogic Sleep') is a deeply relaxing practice which actually has more similarities to meditation than to a physical yoga class. It is usually practised lying down in a comfortable position, and all you need to do is listen to my voice as you are guided into the state between waking and dreaming.
It is extremely restful and is increasingly recognised for its benefits which include, but are not limited to:
* Reduced worry and stress,
* Improved sleep,
* Increased self-awareness and creativity,
* Improved memory.

If you'd like to know more, please take a look at my recent blog article (https://roottorise.co.uk/blog.html), which explains some ways in which Yoga Nidra can help with stress reduction. I would certainly recommend giving it a go to experience some of these benefits for yourself!

Please do consider joining me for this free taster session on Tuesday to see what this practice is all about! There is no effort required - all you need to do is to make yourself comfortable lying down (cushions, pillows, even pyjamas welcome!) and then let my voice guide you into a state of, what should be, deep rest and relaxation.

Please go to www.roottorise.co.uk and book using the code NIDRA19, or email [email protected] to sign up and receive your Zoom link. I would love to see you there!

NEW - Beginner's Pose Workshop Series

I will be starting a slightly new type of Beginner’s class as of next week.

In our beginner’s flow classes we move through a series of simple poses with which you become more familiar week by week, allowing us to stay in our flow and rhythm of the breath. We do not necessarily spend lots of time in each pose, and I do not come around adjusting and giving personal guidance to help you find the shape’s alignment and feel stronger in it.

In order to help beginner's (and more experienced yogis looking to consolidate their practice) to understand a few of the poses better, so I thought I would introduce a series of Beginner’s Pose Workshops over the next 6 weeks, which you can come along to for one or more as you prefer.

If you let me know in advance of the class any particular poses you would like to work on, then I can see if I can include them in the week(s) that you would like to attend, ensure that you really do get the most benefit out of the session.

I am intending to run these workshop classes on *Wednesday evenings, 6-7pm at Barn Elms Sports Centre, Barnes (SW13 0DG)*, starting this Wednesday (13th October) if there is interest. If you are interested, but this time does not work for you, please let me know, and I will see what I can do.

The cost of these classes will be the same as the Beginner’s Flow (£15 for 1, or you can use them as part of your block if you have bought 5 classes for £60).

I will look forward to hearing your thoughts on this (all comments and feedback welcome!).

Thank you so much, and maybe see you soon!
Emma 🙂
