Let's talk DOMS...(Delayed onset of muscle soreness)

Alot of my clients experience DOMS. This is to be expected after embarking on a new fitness routine or when you've taken a break from exercise or even when progressively overloading the muscles during sessions.

However, if you do not experience DOMS, this does not mean that your workout was less effective, it just means your body is getting used to the movement patterns.

DOMS should not be used as a guideline as to how effective your workout was.

Take the time to invest in you and help yourself recover quicker by ensuring you take on adequate protein and water and by making sure you get a decent night's sleep!!!

Hope you're all well?

I have been thinking about putting an exercise class on in my garden and would like to know who would be interested in this.
Numbers would have to be limited to around 7 and would need to be booked in advance!
It would be a HIIT style class and could run on an evening or on a weekend!

Evening all...

So as we head into the bank holiday weekend, who is planning on getting those endorphins going with a bit of exercise?

Will it be walking, cycling, playing in the garden with the children or some other kind of fitness?

If a bit of HIIT style training is your thing, then try this one out for size and let me know how it goes πŸ’ͺ xx

50 jumping jacks
30 squats
20 high knees
25 lunges (each leg)
1 minute jog on the spot
1 minute wall sit
5 seated dips
20 push ups (full or modified)
1 minute plank

Then repeat once more xx

How many of you know what resistance training is or how beneficial it really is?

Resistance training is any kind of exercise where you work against some kind of force. This could be something as simple as your own bodyweight, through to resistance bands, free weights, dumbbells and machinery.

Why is it so beneficial?

You'll be stronger...

Have better bone density...(resistance training can improve the strength of our bones and delay the onset of osteoporosis)

More muscle mass (toned)...plus addressing muscle imbalances

Decreased risk of heart disease...

Slower rate of muscle atrophy (muscle decline)

Mental boost... (improves our mental well being as well as our physical health)

It can also raise our metabolic rate which is an important factor in maintaining bodyweight. The more lean muscle you have, the higher your metabolic rate.

Resistance training is important and should be incorporated into any fitness regime. When are you next doing yours? πŸ’ͺ xx
