The Lochs Agricultural Society (SC043297) became a registered charity in 2012 and their main objective is to run the Lochs Agricultural Show and maintain the Lochs Showground for the benefit of the local community. The Lochs Show is held on the 4th Saturday of July at the Lochs Showground in Laxay, Kinloch and is one of the main agricultural shows on the Island, attracting over 1500 people every year. The Lochs Agricultural Society was originally established in the 1950’s to showcase agricultural practices and community crafts in the area and operated the annual Lochs Show from then until 1973 when the Committee was dissolved. The Lochs Show, as it is commonly known, is very much part of the summer Show season in Lewis and is a very well attended and well run event. The Show grows every year and we not only showcase local produce and livestock we also support also provide a numerous opportunities for local charities and groups to fundraise for their own causes on the day. The Committee is heavily dependent on local Groups and individuals to help with Show day and background organisation
The main aims of the Lochs Agricultural Society are:
a. To promote an annual agricultural and sporting event open to Lewis and Harris;
b. To organise and arrange exhibitions, displays, training, lectures and other events relating to the work of the Society;
c. To support other local community groups;
d. To raise and hold funds towards the furtherance of the above aims
e. To take all other lawful steps as shall be deemed necessary towards the fulfilment of the aims of the Society;
f. The provision, maintenance and improvement of a Showground amenity for the benefit of the community of Lochs
