💛🖤A Game of Three Halves💛🖤

Scottish Cup Round 1…and of course we draw local Div 1 rivals Bathgate Thistle Blues. Two passionate teams wanting to progress and not give an inch. We started today on the front foot, playing some nice football in our own style. 5 minutes in and we unfortunately allowed ourselves to get caught into a war in the middle of the park. After a foul & yellow we took the lead with set piece artist Jonah landing the ball on to Leo’s crisp volley. The rest of of the half saw the ball in the air 90% of the time and being foul thrown the other 10%. Into added on time Bathgate levelled from the spot after a trip in the area…level at the break🤝

HT 1-1 💛💙

Second half never really saw any pattern develop. Perhaps with so much on the line all composure went out the window. We fell behind and looked out of sorts. As the half wore on, our subs had an impact and we found ourselves pressing for an equaliser. Andrew popped up in the right place at the right time and it was game on! Despite finishing strongly and playing some football that was easier on the eye, we were headed for penalties to decide who goes through to the next round 😬

Pens: As onlookers chewed their nails down to nothing the boys bravely lined up in the centre circle, volunteers for pens already chosen. Joshua pulled his best wiggly dance in goal which must have thrown the Bathgate pen takers as two flew over the bar with our boys coming out on top 4-3 winners. Dawid with ice in his veins to hammer home the winning penalty. We march into the next round of the draw and look forward this week to the Regional Cup rescheduled away trip to Hawick Youth 🏆

Our squad are still looking at recruiting one forward to replace our striker Nathan who successfully trialled & moved on to Livingston FC’s pro youth academy recently. If you are interested or know a 2014 advanced level striker…pls get in touch for a trial 💛🖤

Our 2014 boys club have been given the opportunity to experience Barcelona through football, opening up a world of possibilities beyond their own pitch 🇪🇸

They’ll train in Spain, take part in a La Liga training clinic at Espanyol’s training ground, play against Spanish teams and visit one of Barcelona’s iconic football stadiums 🏟️

For some of the boys, this may be their first time travelling abroad with their teammates. For all of them, it’s an opportunity to experience something completely different, learn, grow and create memories together 💭

This weekend…it’s the Regional Cup! 🏆
