Match Report

It was a cold wet morning in Tranent for an early kick off. The boys looked ready for this game after a good result last week and a solid weeks training.

From the warm up the boys looked ready and we're raring to go.

We won the coin flip for kick off and were on the front foot straight away. We didn't give the opposition any space to move and the boys were talking well and playing some nice football on one of the bumpiest pitches we have played on so far.

It didn't take long before we took the lead and it was a well taken goal coming down the right hand side.

We changed formation as we were containing the opposition. The boys adapted well to the change in shape and were hungry for more and not long after we extended our lead and again the boys were still hungry for more.
The passages of play were probably the best we have played in a good while we had strong runs, through balls and shots on goal which were either saved or blocked resulting in a good few corners. The third came from a late run into the box to get on the end of a corner.

We went into Half time with a comfortable lead.

After a quick chat with the boys and encouraging them to continue playing the same way as they had in the first half it looked like they listened and we started the second half strongly.

The goals kept coming. Some nice footwork inside the box and a nice cut back resulted in the ball nestling on the back of the net from a tight angle.

We kept pushing forward and won a penalty after a strong run into the box the defender was caught and had to make the tackle. Unfortunately the penalty was saved but we scored from the rebound. We have been encouraging the boys to follow up for rebounds and it paid off.

We did get a bit excited I'm defense and pushed up a wee bit too far and were caught out in a foot race. We finished the game strongly and ran out comfortable winners.

2 weeks on the bounce the boys have come off the pitch at the end of the game with smiles on their faces.

It makes it all worthwhile. We go again next week.

​From the moment the first rondo began during the early warm-up, it was clear the Livi FCC Blacks were locked in. That sharpness translated immediately to the pitch as the boys started on the front foot right from the opening whistle.
​The coaching staff set three clear objectives for the day:
​Maintain Shape: Stay disciplined across the pitch.
​Ball Movement: Let the ball do the hard work.
​Communication: Keep talking throughout the phases.
​The team delivered on all three. It didn't take long for the deadlock to be broken; a slick, well-worked move down the right wing ended with a clinical cut-back and a composed finish to put Livi ahead.
​Total Control
​With the lead established, the boys found their rhythm. The combination play between the defensive line, the midfield anchors, and the attacking unit was seamless and "easy on the eye." Dominating individual battles across the park, Livi continued to play football "the right way," extending their lead further before the half-time whistle.
​No Letting Up
​Despite a comfortable cushion at the break, the message from the dugout was simple: don't take your foot off the pedal. The boys responded perfectly, adding to their tally early in the second half. While Currie Star managed to pull a goal back after catching the Livi backline pushing high up the pitch, the Blacks refused to be rattled. They reset, regained their composure, and extended their lead even further to put the result beyond doubt.
​The Final Word
​As the final whistle blew, the Livi FCC Blacks left the field with smiles on their faces—a testament to a job well done. For the coaches, the most rewarding aspect wasn't just the scoreline, but seeing the hard work from the training ground translate into a matchday performance.
​When these boys apply themselves and play with this level of discipline, they are a joy to watch.
