FC Porto president Andre Villas-Boas has revealed the Portuguese giants were exploring the possibility of re-signing Diogo Jota from LFC and had even held talks with his agent - as recently as at the forward's wedding - prior to his tragic death.
🗣️ "We were working with agent Jorge Mendes on Diogo Jota's return to FC Porto, and it won't be possible. It would be from 2026/27, and we had discussed the possibility. I made a point of conveying that message to Diogo, through Jorge Mendes, at his wedding, and it was a dream for all the Porto fans that it had happened.
🗣️ "They were much loved. We've come to pay our respects to the family. Diogo, especially as the greatest public figure, was a silent hero. We all appreciated him for everything he stood for, not only on the pitch but also off it."

Pedro Neto paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota after honouring the LFC forward and his brother, Andre Silva, during Chelsea's FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final win.

🗣️ "My sweet friend Jota, What a man, what a husband, what a father, what a partner and what a friend... Your endearing laugh that made us all laugh non-stop. I learned a lot from you and as you often said "There are no fantasies in the world. You are great and you will always be and that is how we will remember you forever.
