China Open Qualifiers Update 🇨🇳

Up and running in Leicester with a 6-4 in the first qualifying round last night. Next round is tomorrow (Friday morning) at 9:30am.

You can follow all the results and watch live scores on wst.tv, there are streaming options on some tables to.

What are your go to routines?

Many players have different routines from the standard line up, all the way through to very intricate routines. Some like to do match play situations etc plus long balls and safety’s.

What are your go to routines or feel like help your game when preparing for tournaments or local competitions?

The new season kicks off for me Wednesday. Although the goal of getting back on tour didn’t happen it’s great to get rewarded with a wildcard place from The World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association in the WST China Open. The qualifiers start Wednesday with my first match at 7:30pm at the Mattoli Arena in Leicester.

Looking forward to a very busy season with the Q-Tour events starting in the coming months to.

Chalk 🤔 💭

There has been a lot of chatter of late, even the past few years about chalk that players are using/should use.

Do you think players should be forced to use a certain type of chalk?

I have used Taom chalk since it came out and would not consider using another chalk due to the benefits it brings. Although costs are higher the chalk lasts far longer than the standard triangle.

I am using Taom V10 Green.

Where do you stand on this debate?

A Must Know Shot!

Knowing where to correctly hit on the white for delicate cannons is a important part of break building.

This is an example of where we need to play a cannon on the red from potting the black, after landing to low on the black.
Aiming between centre and a tip below, we are playing a soft stun/punch shot to push the red forward and white to stay near to the cannon position to allow us to keep the break going. Practise this shot and remember this tip to help your break building.

As a player and a coach this is just a standard morning routine….

But I think everyone can agree there is nothing better than starting your practise after cleaning and ironing the table 😍😍
