⚽ LEYTON ORIENT ARE COMING TO HILLSBOROUGH!

We’re delighted to be welcoming members of **Leyton Orient Walking Football Club** to Northern Ireland this October for a couple of days of walking football, friendship and, hopefully, plenty of craic!

Their visit will see them take on:

📅 Thursday 15 October
⚽ Matches against Scrabo Strollers

📅 Friday 16 October
⚽ A series of matches hosted by Hillsborough Walking Football Club, featuring Leyton Orient and a number of mixed teams.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming our visitors to Hillsborough and making Friday a great occasion for everyone involved.

The full programme, including match times, venue details and participating teams, will be announced nearer the time.

Whether you’re playing, supporting or just curious about walking football, keep Friday 16 October free and come along to enjoy the football and meet the teams.

Northern Ireland are one of the few countries, who are currently unable to enter a competitive woman's walking football team in any age group, for any international tournaments. With this in mind, we are actively trying to promote the sport, and attract more women to take part.
Hillsborough WFC run 6 training sessions a week, 4 are mixed, and 2 are women only.

We're delighted that 6 of our players were recently selected to represent Northern Ireland at the World Masters Walking Football Cup. This superbly organised tournament was held at llansawel stadium, Swansea, and ran over 4 days.
A big credit to the fitness of all players, who played up to 4 matches a day, in temperatures around 30 degrees!!
Northern Ireland were represented in 3 age categories, over 60, over 65 and over 70. All teams give their all, in challenging conditions with the over 60s reaching the semi finals!! The over 70s went one better, winning their final, and have now been crowned World Masters Champions!!!

Lionel Messi has reportedly spent 63% of the World Cup walking...
So, technically... he's been training for Hillsborough Walking Football Club all along! 😂
The only difference is... we won't book you a flight to the World Cup... but we will welcome you with a smile, plenty of laughs, and a great game of football.
If you've ever thought: ✅ "I'm too old." ✅ "I'm not fit enough." ✅ "I haven't kicked a ball in years."..then walking football is for you!
