WAVA Wednesday is back, and this week we’re celebrating Christine Mulholland.

Christine ran Perth parkrun at the start of the month in 19:33, earning a WAVA age grading of 91.3% in the 55-59 category! An outstanding performance.

Christine’s best 5k is 17:38 at Heriot Watt trail 5k, recorded several years ago. It’s amazing she’s only two minutes slower than her all time best, and she’s 20 years older now πŸ™ƒ

On top of that, Christine is also a podium-finishing triathlete often making the GB age group team. The woman is a genuine all-round athlete operating at the highest level.

But what makes Christine truly special at Linlithgow Athletic Club is the support she gives to others, particularly for our female members, and that means just as much as any finish line.

That’s exactly what WAVA Wednesday is about. Not chasing the clock you ran at 35, but chasing the best version of yourself right now. The talent doesn’t disappear. Christine is proof of that. 🫢

At Linlithgow Athletic Club, we believe running is for everyone. Whether you’re chasing world class WAVA scores or simply lacing up for the first time, age is never a barrier here. Come along and train with us.

πŸ… EMF WEEKEND – PART 1 πŸ…

What a fantastic day of racing at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival with Linlithgow Athletic Club athletes flying the flag across both the Marathon and Half Marathon events!

From experienced marathoners to superb performances across multiple age categories, it was another reminder of the strength and depth we have throughout the Club πŸ’™πŸ’›

In the Marathon, we saw brilliant runs from Malgorzata Mandula, Tomas Mandula, Chris Duffy and Gayle Hamilton, all putting in strong performances over the iconic 26.2 mile distance πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Meanwhile, in the Half Marathon, there were excellent performances across the age groups from Darren Dick, Andrew Archer, Clair Howison, Allan Bogle and Vivian Bogle who made her half debut β€” with several top category placings showing the quality and consistency of LAC runners across the generations

Well done to everyone who took part and congratulation to all those who got PBs

Whether chasing PBs, tackling personal challenges or simply soaking up the incredible atmosphere, every runner should be hugely proud of their efforts this weekend πŸ™Œ

And we’re not finished yet… πŸ‘€
πŸ“£ Come back tomorrow for PART 2 where we’ll round up the action from the 10K, 5K and Junior races!

πŸŒŠπŸ–€ BLACKROCK 5 πŸ–€πŸŒŠ

One of the highlights of the Scottish racing calendar and once again the famous Blackrock 5 in Kinghorn delivered in style! With entries disappearing in record time every year, it’s a race many LAC runners have circled on the calendar months in advance

A huge 44 athletes from Linlithgow Athletic Club took on the iconic coastal route, steep climbs, fast descents and that unforgettable sea breeze.

From sharp racing at the front of the field to brilliant club spirit throughout the pack, there were fantastic performances across all age categories with LAC colours well represented from start to finish πŸ’™πŸ’›

Great running, great support and plenty of smiles (mixed with a bit of suffering on that final hill finish) made for another memorable evening in Kinghorn.

The celebrations continued after as some of us raised a glass to our achievements and a club member and her twin sister's birthday as we watched the sunset over the Forth.

Well done to everyone who took part! πŸ‘

It's the first ever WAVA Wednesday and we're kicking off with a brilliant one.

Former head coach Frances Wood took on Bo'ness parkrun on Saturday, clocking 22:56 in the 65-69 age category for a WAVA age grading of 92.51%! To put that in perspective, anything over 90% is world class 🀩 A fantastic performance and a perfect way to launch our new weekly feature.

Think your PB days are behind you? WAVA says otherwise. Every time you run, you have the chance to improve your age grading, and that opportunity doesn't expire. We'd love to know your best WAVA grading and your goals for beating it! Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

At Linlithgow Athletic Club, we believe running is for everyone. Whether you're chasing world class WAVA scores or simply lacing up for the first time, age is never a barrier here. Come along and train with us. https://www.linlithgowathletics.org/

πŸŽ‰ Today the Youth Squad celebrated Alexandra’s graduation from junior parkrun! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈβœ¨

To mark the occasion, the squad proudly wore their LAC vests, and some of the team even spent yesterday baking treats ready for the finish line πŸͺ🧁

Days like this remind us that our club is about so much more than training, racing and PBs. It’s about friendship, support and community β€” and we’re incredibly proud of all our young athletes and the dedicated coaching team who support them to be their very best πŸ’™

And it seems the magic LAC vests worked this weekend too… 🌟
Huge PB shoutouts to:
πŸ‘ Mia
πŸ‘ Akira
πŸ‘ Maisie
πŸ‘ Findlay H

And finally… an absolutely incredible achievement from Jill Elizabeth Horsburgh at parkrun this weekend πŸ‘
