As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to an end, I want to share a project that is close to my heart. I have had the pleasure of working with the Football Therapy Project for 12 years at Lewes Football Club
The Football Therapy Project was created to provide a safe space for people struggling with mental health to play football without stigma and to reduce isolation in their local community by sharing the love of the game with like-minded people.
Playing football and being physically active is great for our bodies and minds. Exercise has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression. The peer support provided during the sessions is the biggest benefit.
If you're interested in attending or know someone who might be, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me at [email protected].
Please feel free to share!
