It’s here again 🕺✨💪

“Test” makes us sound very serious 🤓

But really what our test week is, is a chance to consolidate all you’ve been training on recently.

It’s a checkpoint in your training journey that we do 4 times per year.

For most of our newbies, test week shows the massive jumps their strength will have come in their first year of training. This is supper rewarding!!

For our oldies, it’s a chance to really push their limits and creep up old PBs. It also serve as a massive learning of how that training block went for them, and what tweaks and improvements or changes we can make for the next one so they are really getting the best out of it!

There really is no pressure - just turn up to sessions as normal, do your best and listen to your coach ☺️

Maybe you’ll surprise yourself! 💜💚

Test week next week!! Who’s going to be getting some numbers and achievements on the wall ✨✨

We always test the big 3 - squat, bench, deadlift…

But we will also be testing hip thrusts, pull ups, split squats, push ups, dead hang, hollow holds, carries and our conditioning test!! Lots to see improvements on ✨💪💪

If we were to give you THREE TIPS to help recover faster after exercise... Do you think we’d talk about ice baths? Or saunas? Or stretching and yoga? Or supplements?

No. The main things that make the biggest difference are actually way more simple than that.

They are:

1) Sleep. Our body recovers and essentially “regenerates” as we sleep. So the things we do to make our muscles stronger in sessions? It’s in our sleep that that progress actually starts becoming real 😴🛌

2) Sufficient food. If you’re not eating enough, your body doesn’t have the fuel to recover. Simple. And as you may well know, protein is especially important in this for rebuilding. 🍜🥔🍖🌽🥕

3) Hydration 💦 If you’re dehydrated your recover will slow. Water helps our blood circulate all the amino acids and other essential nutrients our muscles need to repair properly! It also helps our joints stay lubricated and helps flush out some of the by products caused by exercise (ie lactic acid) 🦵

Often the basics are what people find the hardest to do. It almost seems easier to down a supplement, or book a sauna... 🧖‍♀️

Yes those things can help - but not if you are not paying attention to the above foundations ⚒️

Two of our THRIVE veterans!

Soo started training with us just THRIVE opened. It’s been such a joy to see her strength develop over the last 2+ years. Soo is VERY good at pushing herself in sessions, and is very self motivated ✅

Which - when we’ve been rehabbing a few niggles in 2026 can be a downfall 😂 but we are super proud of how resilient and patient she has been. Handled it better than some coaches would handle it I’m sure😅

It’s been really great to see Soo work on some of the more specific weaknesses and balances in her movement this year, and will positively effect her training and body in future.

Taj has also been training for a fair few years now! Taj trains with us once a week in THRIVE, and then does another 1-2 sessions solo per week.

Taj has also had some back niggles over the years training, but will take things back when she needs to - without giving up. This is so key when navigating injury. Finding ways AROUND it to improve it long term - rather than stop altogether.

We are trying to get to a nice 100kg deadlift this summer - watch this space 😎😎

N came to us a year ago wanting to do something for herself, she felt depleted and stuck at home for most days having a WFH job which made things hard on her mental health... she felt apprehensive at first as it can feel like quite the leap of faith lifting barbells but she soon felt the benefits of strength training and the effect it has on the body as well as the mind. It made things like work way more bearable.

Now we're a year in and still going strong, it's become a part of her lifestyle and we're so happy to see her growth from timid and unsure to a solid Deadlifter attending our powerlifting meets! 💚
