🚨Race report:
2026 season kicked off at Mallory Park this weekend with EMRA marking our first race meeting of the year and first time back on the bike since October.
Saturday’s test day proved to be a tough reintroduction, with cold temperatures and strong winds throughout the day. Despite the challenging conditions, we made the most of it and completed four solid sessions, getting valuable time on the bike.
Sunday began with qualifying, where we secured 12th place in the EMRA Open class and 16th in the Mallory Trophy for the first set of races in each class.
Race one: the EMRA Open came shortly after a brief rain shower, which reduced the number of riders on the grid as a fair few opted out. I got a strong start and managed to lead the race for the first two and a half laps. As the race progressed dropped a couple of positions but brought it home for a solid 3rd place & an encouraging result to start the season.
Race two: Mallory Trophy didn’t go quite as planned. After a delay to the original start, when we finally got going something didn’t feel quite right with the bike. Following a near high-side and a couple more unsettling moments, I made the decision to back off, eventually crossing the line in 16th.
Unfortunately, we weren’t able to resolve the issue at the circuit so our weekend ended at that point.
Despite the setbacks, it was good to get back out on the bike & racing with some incredibly strong racers. More experience gained and in some very testing conditions!
A big thank you as ever to my principle sponsor Tss Leicester (Paul Wilkinson) for all the help & support over the weekend and to all the friends/family who came along to show support, it’s greatly appreciated.
