Its opening weekend of our league campaign and we welcomed our neighbours East goscote to Meadow lane. East goscote coming off the back of a good win the previous weekend was an unknown for us. The ladies had put good shift in preseason and now it was time to focus that into the league. Full of confidence we started the game extremely fast paced and dominated possession. Sian Fitzjohn linking up brilliantly with the midfield got us ahead within minutes. We pinned Goscote back and Sian scored her 2nd almost immediately. We played great football moving the ball around and this opened up the play. Emily Sowler got her 1st of the campaign after making a great run through and heading the ball over the keeper and calmly slotting it home. Courteney Cropper scored our 4th within side the 1st 20 minutes with a delightful strike from distance. Sian Fitzjohn scored a 1st half hatrick shortly after. We couldn't of wished for a better start from the whole team. We went into the break 6 to the good. The half-time team talk was all about maintaining the standards we had set in the 1st half and the importance of protecting a clean sheet. The 2nd half didn't start as fast as the 1st but we remained in control. Our defence were solid and were quick to stop any attacking efforts from Goscote. They do deserve some credit as they never stopped and did at times test our back line. However our attacking strength was to much of them. Emily Sowler caused them all sorts of issues and completed a 2nd half hat-trick taking her tally to 4 for the day. It was a dream start to the season and completed the trilogy of wins this weekend for the club.
