Now the holidays are out of the way and competition season is round the corner, I'm starting up the 121s again at the academy.

If you looking to hone in on your current skill set and perfect that technique or pick up a new hobbie, these are the perfect sessions for you! Likewise a great session for any BJJ players out there looking to improve their stand up game for competition season or just a step up to become a more rounded athlete.

Great performance from our players today at the Western Open 🥋

Some tough fights for our players and lots of things to work on back at the dojo as always 👊🥋

Hanna Bancer taking a fantastic Ippon win in her opening fight, unfortunately had to withdraw through injury in her second but taking a well deserved bronze medal 👏👏👏

and both only 15yrs fighting in their new weight category progressing to the semi finals and taking bronze medals in cadets (u18s) . Great win lads 🥋👊

Juniors (u21s) offered a different challenge but they once again fought through to the bronze medal match... Unfortunately this time against each other, both taking scores and pushing each other all the way! Jenson finished 5th taking vital ranking points, Zac taking bronze 👏👏👏

On a side note, I'm so proud of these lads... they know they're blessed they have each other to push themselves on, they're young but they understand the great thing they have together. There will be wins and losses shared between both on many occasions over the next few years... as long as they embrace that as they always have.... it will only benefit them both 🥋👊

Had great weekend with our judo club, we were due to go to an event but it got cancelled due to the heat. So we decided to have a club competition instead. What a great way to spend my birthday, watching judo, seeing the kids have fun and having a right blast 👊🥋❤️

Fantastic morning grading our players at the club. Some really nice Judo and the hard work is paying off. Well done all and massive thanks to our coaches for helping run the day and continued support with the students.

Had a great time last week taking on a demonstration for the Polish community at a local children's sporting event. Our players were fantastic and had some great feedback. Thank you Karolina and Aga for inviting us down.

We train on Saturdays 0915-1000 for our rumble tots (3-4yrs) and 1000-1130 5+yrs. Also Tuesday and Thursday 600-730 for 5-14yrs, 1930-2100 for 15yrs+

We've had so many competitions this year domestically and across Europe, apologies to my players that I've not posted about previous ones.

This weekend saw our club go to multiple venues to compete, firstly we had a great little low grade championships here in Leicester for our young guns, our more experienced players were fighting both in London and over in Belgium.

Well done to everyone who competed, some fantastic judo and ippon throws from our players, super proud of you all 👊🥋

Highlights of Day 1 at the British Championships

Lola had a hard day out, to be expected after a year out, showed guys and spirit throughout and 2026 will be stronger for her.

Amber fought well to a 7th place finish, some nice ashi waza and unlucky not to get a chance to fight off for the bronze.

Jenson had a tough draw and had to fight one of the event favourites not once but twice. Great effort and another 10pts chalked off to his Dan grade... 14yrs old and only 30pts to go!

Zac blitzed through the comp, finishing 5 fights in just over 2mins total on his way to Gold. Double bubble, gained his points needed for his 1st Dan... Also only 14yrs old

Hanna fought on day 2 in the precadet, though group but showed great spirit at such a young age.

Great finish to the competition season from all players, well done, so proud of you all 👊🥋❤️

Great turn out last night, helped by a visit from old training partners Thrive Jiu Jitsu. Some nice ashi waza drills, conditioning and tough randori with fresh faces. These club visits always helps your members develop. There was some lovely Ippon judo on show, plenty of grit and determination. Everyone trained hard and will certainly be sore today... I know I was!

Great effort guys, well return the favour in a few weeks and visit you guys Peterborough 👊🥋
