Match Report V Castleford.

A very depleted Reds squad travelled to Pontefract park 🐎to take on Castleford who we have played against since U8's and built up some very good spirited battling games.💪

Last night the Reds looked like fielding 8 players but fortunately Belle managed to make it to give the Reds a level field.

A slightly different shape today for the Reds with Belle filling in at RB with three of the Reds defenders missing. 🤕
We expected to be very tired as the game went on so the focus was getting as many goals as we could as fast as we could in the first half.

The Reds didn't disappoint, Lexi who has had a fantastic week of goalscoring with a hat trick last Saturday. Another one for School midweek then an Amazing 5 goal haul today with some breathtaking runs and tidy finishing. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

Lacey continued her solid play in the #10 role sliding balls through, linking play and got her goal after some quick thinking at a goal kick finishing in the corner well from inside the box.

Ava worked hard and the toughest job was keeping onside with a high defensive line but soon figured it out and got her goal from close range for a Birthday Goal 🎂

Sophie, her usual industrious self got the standard long range strike to bag her goal.

Niah dictated the play and led the team around the pitch from her advanced midfield position. Visibly annoyed not to get on the scoresheet but her unselfish play earned her referees player of the game.

As the legs started to get tired the Reds pushed high to keep up the pressure.
Millie broke up play and moved the ball around the midfield. April showed good strength at the back and Belle was excellent at reading play and cutting out the danger.

🧤Sophia struggled today still trying to come back from injury but wanted to keep going. 🙏 Her Awesome teammates were very quick to show her support and pick her up when she needed it & got the job done in attack.

Amazing effort from the 9 girls today.
We have 2 sessions this week with an extra
training slot being taken by Harry & Alfie at Twin Touch

Match Result V Gildersome.

The Reds lined up at LS26 for our first Home game of the season. The pitch was in Great condition for a match against a Very strong Gildersome team with all 13 Girls available.

The two sides have met a few times in recent months with it being a very even game each time.

Gildersome started the strongest and dominated play in the early stages with Great passing play. The Reds soaked up the pressure very well with the Reds hitting Gildersome on the counter twice with some magical wing play from Lexi finishing twice after fantastic runs to get 1-1 with the keeper.
Gildersome got their reward with a well taken finish from inside the box to go into half time with the score 2-1 to the Reds.

The second half was much the same but Lexi was unstoppable today on the wing finishing off her hattrick with another fine finish.
Anna was rewarded for her perseverance and scored with a well struck finish from just outside the box into the corner of the net.
Lacey got in on the action with a tidy finish from inside the box and soon after added her second with a strike from 25yards right into the top corner.
Niah got her goal intelligently intercepting a goal kick and finished well from distance.

Some of the one touch attacking play and through balls from the midfield today were unstoppable at times and an absolute pleasure to watch.

The real strength came from the defensive work today, Gildersome put the Reds under a lot of pressure throughout the game. The strength and mindset of the defence and midfield tracking back was the platform for the Reds to build from.
The scoreline was a bit flattering and didn't represent how competitive the game was but the Reds pace and fast counter attacking came out on top.

Sophia 🧤- Still nowhere near fitness but fair play for coming back to help the team. Great handling and starting kicking out of hands again. Good communication 📣

April - Strong as always with an assist for Lexi after a good phase of defensive play 💪

Lucy - Continues to get stronger and impress wherever she plays along the back line snapping into tackles 🤺

Ivy - A no nonsense tidy and polished game again, spotting the danger and dealing with it without fuss. 💅

Anna - Solid and Fast pressing the ball at every chance steaming into challenges. Created herself a Great goal from winning the ball deep. All her own work

Belle - Showed her class and displayed her full range of passing. She may be one of our smaller Reds and playing up a year but threw herself into every tackle today and never backs down with a solid performance. Architect !🏛️

Millie - Does the horrible work but gives the Reds the security to build from. Great progressing the ball and recycling from deep ♻️

India - Very strong game from India with a fantastic team ethic and work rate playing both wings in a tidy fashion 🧹

Sophie - Showed her strength and running with the ball to change defence into attack.
Whipped some Great crosses in💪

Niah - started the game deep then pushed further forward to where she does the most damage, pushed the ball wide, drive at the defence and took her goal well from distance. 🎯

Ava - No goal today but a fantastic performance leading the line and chasing down the defenders. Great selfless work today 🏃‍♀️

Lacey - Played as a 10 should, dropping off linking play and scored two different types of goals. A worldie 🌍 and a tidy finish. 2 assists and countless Great touches.

Lexi - Unplayable at times today. Hat trick and the ball was stuck to her. Speed, Skill, fantastic goals and whipped corners. Coming back to defend, Her game had everything today. Very Well Done 👏✨

Well done Legends. Once again a very happy and proud coach 🔴⚽️❤️

Onto Castleford Away next weekend 💪
