The theme for this year’s is "Do you see me?" which is all about people with a learning disability being seen, heard and valued. You can find resources on the Mencap website: https://www.mencap.org.uk/learningdisabilityweek

How accessible is your club or activity for someone with a learning disability? What do you do to ensure your participants voices are heard? Organisations like Activity Alliance and Disability Sport Yorkshire can give you guidance around this. There’s also a disability inclusion hub on the Buddle website.

✨ A fantastic evening celebrating community and connection ✨

Staff from Yorkshire Sport Foundation were delighted to attend the All Out Together Ball on Saturday 6 June at the Queens Hotel in Leeds, joining supporters and partners for an inspiring night of celebration and fundraising.

Representing YSF were Steven Heywood (Active Design Manager), Measha Harris (Sport Welfare Officer) and Nicola Holmes (Senior Sport Welfare Officer), showing their support for Out Together LGBT charity, doing incredible work to create inclusive communities for LGBTQ+ people across Yorkshire.

With more than 250 guests in attendance, the evening raised an amazing £21,000 to help Out Together continue to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing through its hubs in Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield and Calderdale. 💜

Steve Heywood, YSF Active Design Manager, shared:
“It was a privilege to be part of such a vibrant and generous event. We’re excited to work more closely with Matt and the Out Together team to help people become more physically active and socially connected, tackling loneliness while improving health and wellbeing.”

👏 Well done to everyone involved in such a special night!

We know how important play is in supporting children to be physically active and how important being physically active is for our health. Child Friendly Leeds are running this great competition for people to win heaps of goodies to encourage our kids to be active and for their streets to be a place where they can play.

Today is International Day of Play 🌎 🧡

Play is a right for every child. ✅

To celebrate, we’re inviting communities across Leeds to apply for a Play Street and help make Leeds the UK’s most playful city.

COMPETITION? 10 streets will receive an official Child Friendly Leeds Play Street bin filled with playful resources. Because a Child Friendly City needs Playful Streets.

We’ve got a special blog dedicated to making the city more playful from community spaces, parks and things to do at home!
